Probably so, but they both do/did a great job of getting into position vs bigger players to make the rebound. Marcus was ridicuoulus at rebounding. I remember being in the stands watching him play and counting his boards. By halftime in most games he would be up to 6 or 7 and a large number of those would be offensive boards. I think his senior year he averaged over 12 boards a game. If I am not mistaken he might have been 2nd in the nation in rebounding one year, only 2nd to a guy less than an hour down the road named Shaq.

Of course but most 6'10 guys can't move like a 6'6 guy...and will get called for over the back a lot more. I'm not saying it can't be a problem in certain games and situations but it can be overcome. Not all of your best rebounders are really tall.

True, Bryce is actually a very sharp dresser.

Perfect example of your scenario is Brain Hamilton. He was 6'6 and weighing under 200lbs but he could out rebound much larger forwards.

If memory serves me well Stokes listed at 6'8".

I think you might be right as far as what he was listed, but I don't think Stokes was 6'8". I remember seeing him stand next to Kevin Brooks and others on the team and he appeared shorter. More like 6'6", but I could be wrong. I know one thing, he was a beast on the inside and that shot he hit vs. OU to beat them was a thing of beauty.

---Well I have got to disagree although there is no doubt that the components you mentioned are so very important--Vertical jump and upper body strength, how tall, and arm length are the the 4 biggies when position is neutral and timing is the cherry on top!!!

That's probably why 2 of the leading rebounders in NBA history were relatively short, and one of those was both short and stocky. [Dennis Rodman and Charles Barkley].

That's why it's important to have position, position trumps all this. You either have position or you don't. Majority of the time if you have position you get the rebound or draw the foul. Upper body strength help you get position. Timing is important, majority of the really tall guys at our level aren't very athletic. You don't have to be 6'10 or above to be a great rebounder. Shawns timing, effort and position made him a great rebounder more than his height.

---I had an amazing conversation with Rodman over some cocktails one afternoon----as we talked rebounding, it was quite a learning experience for me----the amount of time that he had spent in game prep was phenomenal----For each player, from what angle, direction of basketballs of each player off of missed shots and percentages, spin of ball and its chances of off board or rim direction, knowledge of opponents rebounders and their tendencies---my boy was decked out in some half ___ crossed dressed out fits with metal attached to various facial areas---Think he had returned recently from a North Korea visit with his favorite point guard!!! lol My party wasn't as interested in the conversation topic as I was and didn't appreciate his dress attire, but again one can learn a lot from the places you would never think to be associated with certain topics!!!
