Because it wasn't in that context, it wasn't a poor me statement...and not that it matters as much..Robe didn't start making good money until very recently. Robe was the guy paying the price for 75k grand a year. Robe works 3 times the hours Scott farmer ever did and he isn't on a chartered jet. Robe has to get to super to make close to $200k.

I think we also need to consider the context of Farmers speech as well. From all indications, it was a forced resignation. I'd imagine the excuses for stepping down from an awesome gig are limited haha.

BTW have you flown on those chartered jets? Only difference between that and commercial flights that other sports outside of football use is you board the plane on the Tarmac. Nothing luxurious about them.

the man is getting paid to fly with the team to football games...oh and pretty sure his family can go whenever they want. It was lame. Nobody is gonna feel sorry for somebody knocking down a quarter mill and putting in a lil overtime.

Robe has been at it for 30+ years. He's successful and has never played the victim card. Robe only uses that anecdote to teach and give his story.

Comparing Farmer and Robe is.. impossible. It shouldn't be done. No offense to you, I get where you were going with that, but..

We all pay a price. The idea that I'd come home to my wife and kids when I haven't been doing everything I can to better their lives, and telling them "hey, go easy on me, I pay a price to be the leader of this household" is ridiculous. Even if it's true, it's understood. I wouldn't trade in my wife or the humans that I helped make for anything. I'd never tell them the sacrifices I make for them, because I'm fortunate to have them.

Just like Scott was fortunate to be here. We all pay a "price". To some of us, the juice is worth the squeeze. It's understood. You can't use that for sympathy.

I think the disconnect b/w our thoughts on his comments are that you and others viewed it as an excuse, where I viewed it as a reason (for "resigning").

He could have easily said Ive decided to take a position that allows me more time with my family...I have no problem with that...the 'I've paid the price part sounds like he was doing a public service or doing us a favor.

    Exactly.

And I'm not saying I thought it was an excuse. I think it's a reason as well. But in my view, it's a reason you don't mention. It's understood.

Bottom line is Scott benefited more from UL than UL benefited from Scott.

People that aren't leaders shy away from attention and transparent discussion. The dude had some serious problems telling the truth. He was in CYA mode 90% of the time.

Anyway, I give Jess credit for owning her comments. Traits of a leader.

More importantly, they are making their intentions to be playing USM in the Tigue public, and that tells me a lot about their confidence in that actually happening. Even if they aren't, this is what transparency actually looks like.
Right on the money. How freaking hard is it?

Look, fellas. We are doing everythig we can to be in that park playing S. Miss. It aint going to be finished. but maybe if things fall perfectly, we catch a few breaks and we can play at the new Tigue. Might be inconvenient seating. Just hang with us. And hey, we may be at Fabaucher or freaking Zephr Field or who the hell knows where. But we're doing everything we can to be at the Tigue.

Guess what? She committed exactly the same level that Farmer did - short of it: we have no freaking idea when.

But I like her version a helluva lot better.

I am no contractor but I do pass by Cajun field several times a week and see the pace in which the Tigue is being built. If they are in that stadium by the beginning of march I'll be impressed. I don't see it happening.

Keep in mind that they will be using a hybrid pre-cast system for the grandstand seating so all of that work is currently on going off-site and will come together like a jigsaw puzzle once on site. It is not a cast in place system. That is what was used for the additional seating at Cajunfield.
