We seem to have a lot of players who aren't what we thought they would be. Remind me again, who picks the players? Who decides who to redshirt and who not to? Who is responsible for player development?
Our offense has been a joke for 2 years. Are we just incredibly unlucky in the number of players we recruited that just aren't that good?
Honest question:
Name an offensive skill player who's play improved during his 4 years with HUD?
Harris maybe?
Al Riles isn't even half the receiver Harry Peoples was. And that isn't even a knock on Riles as a player, because it isn't his fault. It's the offense. The one where Harry Peoples ate like a damn king so much that when we lost him in that road game at North Texas on a mid week...it killed the offense. We are so far removed from that offense it's damn silly. I don't blame Fuselier 100% for his shortcomings here. But I'm not going to lay 100% of the blame on Hud and his Crowley offense (suck it Pios). McGuire has been categorically misused for well over 2 years...and has still produced in spite of it. Even Riles has performed admirably in an offense meant to be run by 5 foot tall 16 year old's. Column A...Column B. It's a ____ty offense, but sometimes you have to make chicken salad out of chicken ____. It's not always going to be the best situation possible...you gotta work with the hand you are dealt.
There are those, including me, that blame Hud for Haack not being as good as I thought he could be. This offense never suited Haack. I blame Hud for recruiting him in the first place. And this offense isn't, by the way, being managed worth a damn by Hud right now. He won't admit it... but he got out of the way slightly... and that's the best overall improvement seen in the past few games.
All recruits are Hud's, are they not? As much as you say others over blame Hud for our football issues, you seem to have taken the biggest role blaming anyone but Hud.
I want Hud to succeed, but if you're not seeing a lot of coaching issues with Hud, you aren't watching the same program I am. If anything gets better with our football team, it will be because Mark Hudspeth got a whole lot smarter about running a solid football program. I welcome it. I don't want to see us fail miserably in order to make improvements. Hud better never smart off to the fan base ever again in his career here either. That you can take to the bank. And he will never again slip past an ACT or APC problem at this university. You can write that down.
