Short answer, nope.
Long answer, nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooppppppppppppeeeeeeeee.
Middle Tennessee was UL's best rival till they broke the "We're Not Ready" pinky pledge.
Miss St vs Ole Miss seemed to me to be more of a "natural" rivalry than LSU - Ole MIss, but I should have said "most opponents", my bad.... but at the same time, I didn't know LSU claimed Ole mIss as their biggest rival, they seem to talk more about the bama, florida, texasam, ark, games, etc.... point is should just be one, for all.
I think we dislike and/or want to beat several instate schools all about the same. I still consider Tech and Tulane the two instate schools I want to play and beat. ULM gets the distinction of being a conference opponent and we're forced to play them. If we were not in the same conference, they wouldn't be on our radar at all. As far as a conference opponent I think we see as a good challenger and that most educated athletic fans want to play and beat - as a barometer of our status in the Belt - Ark State.
I do hope to someday have a short consensus answer to the "who is our rival" question. If that devolved into ULM... we have failed.
I never hated MT. You could say they were our closest friend of the initial SBC lineup.
I hated WKY. They were a real rival in basketball.
Back then, we really had no football rival. Today, that is stAte. Definitely lots of bad blood back and forth here.
Still, nothing compares to the rivalry we will have with Tech once we play every year again.
