I don't think s.alabama has anyone else nor does ULM (but I would like to get away from it being ULM for other reasons esp name) .....a rivalry has to be a two way street. LSU could claim Florida is their rival all day long, (just like they claimed fisher wanted to go to b.rouge).....but Florida will never care more about LSU than the world's largest cocktail party or gators-noles
I think Ole Miss views Miss State similar to how we view ULM. With the rare exception of a perfect storm (Prescott QB years), Ole Miss views a loss to Miss State as an HUGE negative towards the competitiveness of their own football program.

Ole Miss wants to leave Miss State behind and be considered amongst the ranks of LSU and other higher tier SEC programs.

Having been born about halfway between the two schools, and having multiple family members who have attended and graduated from both, and family members who have been on faculty at both, I will say that I have seen a LOT of good natured ribbing, some of it pretty low, but no real hatred. The relationship among the fan bases is closer to UL/MT than it is to Alabama/Auburn. They love beating each other, and the winner of the Egg Bowl will rag the loser without mercy, but it is all pretty good natured. Maybe it is just my family, though, and the rest of the state is different.

    Yes

Most important game of the year should be unrelated to rivalry status.

If UL closed out every season with Nicholls, they would be viewed like ULM is now.

End of the season must win.

Are they a rival? Sure, they are a team that I hate to lose to. Are they THE rival? Nope. La Tech is our greatest rival, I get sick to my stomach for a week when we lose to those meth heads, and that goes for ALL sports. In conference, Ark State is probably our most intense rivalry in football and USA in baseball and softball. Just to note, I also think McNeese would be a bigger football rival with us than ULM due to the history between the 2 schools.

WKU was our biggest rival when they were in the Belt. Current Belt schools I'd say those gnat infested toothless south Georgians are. ____ those guys.

stAte is a huge football rival but that's about it.
