Wasn't he on the cusp of being benched here before Nixon got hurt?
I would think he would need the extra year to finish grad school. I cant imagine grad school is only one semester?
Here is why I think he has a chance of getting a year back. This is my opinion only and not in the NCAA rule book, so do not ask me to prove it.
Jennings only played 3 years at lsu, most graduate transfers play 4 years at the university they came from and then 1 year at the transfer school. That gives them 5 years to play. Jennings will have only played 4 years.
I do not know if it is good or not, but if he continues to run the ball like he has at the end of the season, I would like him back. It is my understanding he was not healthy at the beginning of the season. Either way I wish him the best of luck in the future.
Grad transfers aren't any different than other players relative how many years they can "play". If they've played 4 years, they are done. If they redshirted one year, they have one left. 5 years to "play" 4 seasons
Here are the rules for graduate tranfers. As far as Melrock's opinion that the fact that he only played 3 years at LSU, the third bullet point would seem to contradict that since he would have only been eligible to play one more year at LSU. I think if they have played 4 years, they are done. If they have played 3 years and taken a red shirt 1 year, then they get 1 more year. I hope it happens though..
"Graduate Exception
The graduate exception is a version of the one-time transfer exception. It is for student-athletes who cannot use the normal one-time transfer exception because they play one of the sports that are not permitted to use the exception.
•The student-athlete must have graduated with at least a bachelor's degree;
•The student-athlete meets the other requirements of the one-time transfer exception;
•The student-athlete must have at least one season of competition left; and
•The student-athlete's previous school did not renew his or her athletic scholarship or offer an athletic scholarship for the following academic year.
The requirement that the scholarship be cancelled or not renewed is generally not an issue. The scholarship does not need to be cancelled before the transfer or be the reason for the transfer. Because the one-time transfer exception requires you to get a release, what will happen with your scholarship is generally just an administrative detail."
I think Jennings is a mature young man and would be good for the locker room. Concern is he has been up and down his whole career. See this year and @br. I am concerned he comes back and good 30 to 40 percent of the and bad the rest. No guarantees he will be consistently as good as the last 3 weeks, because he hasn't done it yet for an entire year and God knows hud will never pull him and try someone new.
Man... I swear a bunch a you sunshine pumper got up this morning, took a hit together held hands and sang Kumbaya before logging on. Before the season y'all were creaming in y'alls pants thinking he was coming here to lead the team to a perfect season. I tried to remind everyone that our last BR transfer wasn't all that but no one listened. Now he wants another year and y'all getting morning wood.
WTF... People we are 5 and 6. What has he (and this staff) done to make you believe we would do any better next year with him at QB . He is a senior QB that makes bad decisions. He's an "athletic" QB that can't be counted on to get 1 friggen yard.
He may be the nicest guy in the world, but fans aren't gonna line up to watch another mediocre season and being embarrassed by App St on National TV.
