I am really curious to know what UL-Monroe's take is on this as I just can't see them being in favor of this. Anybody visit their one page forum lately?

No mention of it on their Scout forum or the Monroe News Star.

I think the ULM people have adopted a bunker mentality. Both of their forums seem to be closed to non-subscribers. The seldom post on the SBC forum either.

What I wonder is if the call from many fans to leave the league had anything to do with this? Others may have been afraid that the league would be weakened with out departure. Probably wishful thinking.

I agree that it played a very big role in their decision. I am already a bigger fan and supporter of the Sun Belt right now.

I'm not sure they exactly "endorsed" our using "Louisiana." They just stopped pretending THEY wanted to be called UL to block us.

Or, rather, they couldn't do anything about LA.

Really wish i knew what happened behind the scenes, though.

If you guys are looking for reasons why ULM all of a sudden agreed, I think it may have something to do with the financial situations at both schools and any help Doc can give them politically.

ULM just maxed out their allotment for athletics from state funding. Perhaps Doc provided cover for them? Just spitballing here....
