Thread: Louisiana at James Madison

  1. Default Re: Louisiana at James Madison

Cajuns definitely did a great job today.

JMU might not be that good this year, but are usually very good.

    Good win in every way.

One regret. Bartly could have 30 if we hadn't taken the air out the ball. Marlin should feed players who are near their career highs.

On the road with our past, any win is a good win. Congrats, great showing on a great day.

Without stove we owned them. I'll take that. We could use stove on Thursday vs a good Texas southern team.

Maybe it's because they are shoot in an arena that looks like a suped up High School gym.
He does that to insure the defense is set. It also causes the other coach to yell at his team without much guidance as they don't expect a TO then. Not saying that is right, it is just his philosophy. Even his wife and son have given him a hard time about that habit.

We play TSU on Sunday afternoon in Blackham at 4 PM, not on Thursday. They are likely the best team in this tournament. Shipley family will be honored before game with HOF ceremony reanacted. As far as today goes, there is some significance despite the opponent being in a down year. It was a non-conference road win. I don't think we had any of those the last two years.

Fun team to watch. Haven't always been able to say that about marlins teams.

That is correct. Rice and Montana State are also in the tournament. Every team plays four of the other five squads. Rice is the one we don't play. TSU beat them handily earlier. The tournament committee decided on who plays at home and who travels. However, Montana State gets three of their four games at home. I believe they bought one of the games in order to do so. Big advantage for them with the altitude situation. Normally you would think we would have preferred to have James Madison at home vs Delaware State or Texas Southern simply because of their name. As it turns out James Madison looks like they will have a down year. Therefore, the Texas Southern game on Sunday may be a good one to have at home as they are quality club.. This is an exempt tournament. That basically means you get to play games beyond the 29 regular season contests normally allowed. That is how we will end up playing 31 games.

Cajuns are more athletic than in the past despite all the freshman. That makes them more enjoyable to watch. Also, Frank Bartley could be a star in this league. Having an impact player who is also an upstanding guy always helps draw interest. Of the last four games, the only one he did not have over 20 was Panhandle State and that is because he played limited minutes that night. Appears he is a difference maker. No one would have thought a guy who averaged 4 ppg in his previous stop would become the key guy but it appears that is what has occurred.

Texas Southern looks like the toughest team at this point...wish the game was at 5 or 6 instead of 4
