Thread: Louisiana Overcomes Three-Point Barrage By Delaware State In 83-82 Win

  1. Default Louisiana Overcomes Three-Point Barrage By Delaware State In 83-82 Win

Frank Bartley scored a game-high 25 points while Bryce Washington recorded his third double-double of the season with 20 points and a career-high 14 rebounds as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team withstood a three-point barrage by Delaware State and held on for an 83-82 victory on Monday at Blackham Coliseum.

Every team Bobby BigFish defends have a barrage of three point shooters. This is the normal not the exception.

Actually I thought that the crowd looked to be in the scores.

Delaware State was much better than I expected. They had shooters and they were hitting with guys in their face. Honestly, the defense was not bad, these guys were just hitting everything at times. The problem I saw was rebounding. Numbers were pretty even and we went small to counter their guard offense and we got beat pretty good on the glass and we gave up quite a few offensive rebounds.

I saw promise in this team however. Everyone of the guys that played showed me something and that we could expect some nice things from them moving forward. I'm still a little confused on why start Plaisance when he literally played maybe 8 minutes the whole game. Why not start someone else? I thought we should have gone with a bigger lineup to really bang the glass on the inside and push the ball on the blocks but we decided to go small and shoot a lot of 3's.

The sad thing is that Blackham would be a great home venue with students and rowdy fans. You could hear something yelled from across the entire building last night. I can imagine if we had 2,500 people in there getting loud what type of advantage that would be but it was like a morgue.

Blackham is a dump and has been for 30 plus years. I hope we never have to play in there again.

As to Scott Plaisance starting I can only assume it is because he played well against Montana State and has practiced well so Marlin wanted to reward him with a start to see what he could do. His failure to produce did warrant more minutes. You will see several people start in that 5 position until conference play starts. I think once conference play starts you will not see so much shuffling of the starting lineup.

Can't say that I didn't like him as he seems more athletic than I originally thought he was but was just surprised that he started and then played less than most people. I think that Stalcup should start and give him a chance. We are void of front court size right now though and that is a concern.

Yes I agree, I think you will see more of Stalcup and Miller. Brown is making some noise for more playing time as well.
