That plays in motion before whistle or arms.

Cajuns can hold their heads high. Turnovers a big factor. We can win next week.

I can't remember his name right now but I do know the kid who transferred from Missouri was a four star coming out of HS. That is the highest ranked player we have had here in years. Also, the Russell kid from Peabody was a four star when he was committed to LSU and he had a strong season last year. When he decommitted from an SEC school and committed to us, he dropped to a 3 star. I don't know how either of those guys will do but it does appear the talent level being brought into the program is improving.

Mike you have a couple of maybe's there. I just proved Marlin with a lottery pick, and a probable NBA player could finish no better than third in the SBC, and took two incredible comeback efforts to even get to the NCAA. That team was not devoid of talent beyond those two.

Marlin has proven to not be able to make the most even with talented players and prospering. I am very doubtful he's going to do much better with unknowns.

Again, year after year, I'm hoping he proves me wrong, that my concerns are just that. I'd love to be able to hope he was not getting better offers.

A bypass reader might assume your case is speaking of 2 seniors with those credentials.

It was a (age wise freshman) sophomore and a freshman the first year, and a junior-sophomore tandem second year they played together.

We will never know what heights the normal Senior-Junior experience would have been like.

That sophomore got called up the very next year, and Long was in fact a sophomore regardless of his freshman designation.

Marlin has never gotten more out of his players than you'd expect. I cannot speak to SHS, but looking over his resume from there it needs to be studied a lot more.

Seven years in zero regular season championships, zero second place finishes, one regular season third place, only one conference semi final game, and a championship win. That is your coaches resume at LA.

My athletic career in kid ball started with some great athletes on our baseball team that went on to play college ball in VARIOUS SPORTS---So here we are at 10- 12 years of age beating a team by say 24 runs in the first inning---we get to the dugout and he gets us in a huddle---he (Coach) says that when you're beating a team badly you beat the SHEET out of them

An early impression on winning!!!---BTW 3 of us were inducted into college H of Fs---Tulane , Auburn, and UL with others that who played HS and college sports!!!

On those teams, we had EP and Long and that was essentially it. The tournament run year, we had a very shallow bench without much scoring outside of those two. This team, if the transfers are as good as some think, would be MUCH deeper and could possibly outdo that team. You have to give them a chance. I've never really had a problem with Marlin's in game coaching. I've had a problem with his attrition and lack of recruiting. If these transfers answer that, at least for the time being, its worth giving them a shot.

The talent outside of the big two was suspect.

At Sam Houston, Coach Marlin won three regular season championships in his 12 years there. He also won the conference tournament championship twice. He never finished lower than fourth. He has only finished lower than fourth once in his time here and that was Elfrid's sophomore year. I know the response will be that is mediocre, slightly better than average. Many will also say that is the worse position to be in. While some fans may want a change in that situation, it rarely occurs if winning seasons result. That goes for most places, not just here. Many believe it may be better to be terrible than mediocre so as you can make a change giving you a chance to get significantly better. Personally I am uncomfortable in those situations as it results in fans actually pulling against their own team. You also assume you make the right decision in your hope for significant improvement. This entire conversation is premature as we don't have the transfers other than Bartley until next year. We will have an idea how this will work out in about 15 months.

So you're happier in no mans land. That's fine. You do remember when we had outstanding teams. People wanted Marty's head. Then he started beating great in conference teams and coaches. They still wanted his head. Yet we're happy with a guy whose underperformed.

I am not satisfied where we are. I want to improve as well. I am just pointing out that some would prefer to be terrible than we are now and while you may hope that occurs, I am not comfortable in such a situation. That is the only way someone new comes in as the administration won't change as long as these slightly above winning records continue. That will continue to be the case no matter how many times it is posted here mediocre outcomes should result in a change. That is why I don't focus on the coach much as it is something I know is not being considered in any shape, form, or fashion at this time. It also won't be considered after this season no matter how poorly it turns out as they know five freshman are on this year's squad and the transfers are not eligible. If people want to drop support because of that view, I will not challenge them. In fact I think they should as life is better spent on things that bring enjoyment rather than frustration. However, I am also not convinced that we can't get over the hump with this staff. I know you believe history tells us not to expect it. However we have never had overall talent rated as high as we will next season. I understand that does not mean they will meet expectations. Does not mean they will not either. I also understand you are hoping to be wrong and are pulling for the guys every game. I don't think anyone doubts that.
