I didn't link up the article to point out what Panhandle State called us. The reason for doing so was to show that they didn't put forth a decent effort to compete with us. I rebutted myself for criticism of the scheduling of that game. It wouldn't have been a 70 point win if Panhandle State made a decent effort. Maybe 30 or 40.

I think that is true.

Demoralizing losses in the making will vacuum"effort" right out of the arena.

I do not think that truth undermines what the victors accomplished, in fact it underscores it.

There is a financial reason. He just explained it to you. Different jobs pay different wages. Even the world's greatest garbage man wont make more than a terrible D1 college football coach.

If we "downgrade" his salary we'll be in breach of contract. And then we'll have no head coach AND Marlin will successfully sue us for the rest of the money we owe him.

You should be ashamed of yourself comparing Robe to a glorified garbage collector. La, has already proven they are willing to be a crap basketball school, and want to be a top tier baseball school. We unlike many successful non P5 programs get nothing worth mentioning in TV revenue, and P5 schools use enormous TV and NCAA money to overpay their coaches who are at least successful at the highest level. Marlin cannot justify his salary at any level. We get no TV deals, he does not get to the NCAA on a regular basis, has never gotten a second NCAA portion from his teams.

As long as you bring up trades, yes, I would pay a great garbage man more than a bad plumber. I pay him more money, and be glad and safer for it.

Exactly, there are no bad takeaways when you do exactly what you should do.

Even if one were to claim Panhandle is the worst team to visit Louisiana in the history of the school, then Louisiana did exactly what it should do.

I don't think his contract comes up for renewal for another three years. By then, we will know if the move to bringing in transfers will have paid off.

I disagree with the above statement as the two walkons got something out of it. Stove also hit a high %. If this has helped get him out of his slump and he has confidence going forward, this game may have helped him. We won't know that until we see what happens in the next couple of games.

I don't know what the buyout terms are. It may be that the buyout is reduced as you get closer to the end of it but I am not sure. Still, it does not matter as what some fans here think or how many times a critical post is made, the administration is completely in his corner at this stage. If they still are in three years is something I cannot predict.

The next game is another patsy, but at least division one. They then play James Madison, a university too good to join the SBC. We're likely getting beat by the James Madison team. Probably double digits.
