I was thinking the same thing. Give this guy a complete off season to install some of the stuff he wants to run, and I'm thinking we can be pretty solid of defense.

We have some great skill players. Use them 😡
Fuse could be a great possession type slot receiver but this staff has no clue on how to utilize his talents.

HUD will get rid of him and go find a "turnover" coach

On a somewhat related note about trying to get the ball to your playmakers. Can Gary Haynes be relieved off his punt returning duties? On 2, maybe 3 occasions on Saturday (I'm sure of 2) the guy fair catches a ball inside the 10. Inside the 10!!! He's got speed, but his decision making while fielding punts has been terrible this year. It cost him an injury earlier in the season and then set back a poor offensive into the shadow of their own goal post. We struggle to move the ball from the 25. Going 90+ yards to score is just out of the question.
Think about how many times Eli has done the same thing. Pretty sure Surgent did the same. Maybe those guys are being told to make a play, no matter where they catch it?

And getting playmakers the damned ball. How long will it take for this guy to figure it out?

I'll willing to beat we throw Riles 2 passes in the first series and he will not see the ball the rest of the game.

It boils down, for me, to two things. This OL needs to learn to pass block. And you've got to stop abandoning the pass just because it fails. Our best assets need the ball thrown to them. Hud and staff need to watch more film on other programs that manage to pass block and get the time required to throw medium to deep balls. There's ways of establishing the rhythm that works.

Hud can't pretend to be disconnected from "the game plan". That's BS. He created the mindset with everyone on that offense and why they operate the way they do. He is the obstacle to a different "game plan". He needs to forget you can run the ball... get so concerned over what will work in a "passing game plan" and work it until it works. He should have been doing this all along... but it's never too late to put our program on the right track. We need to stop being a conservative ground munching offense... and become a wide open dangerous offense. Players need to get excited about making plays. I just don't see that in this offense. Riles is the only one that has an attitude no matter what. He is the linchpin of our passing attack IMO.

Just don't believe we've got anyone who can consistently separate or deliver the ball.

You mean just like when we went deep to Jacquet on the first drive of the game and didn't attempt the same play the rest of the game?
