Thread: UL offense lacks any answers

  1. UL Football UL offense lacks any answers

Simply put, the offense plays scared, almost too scared to ever really get on track.

Too worried about the pick-six at New Mexico State.

Too concerned about all the many breakdowns that could take place with its young offensive line.

    Because we lack offensive minds.

Is Muñoz calling the plays or HUD? HUD is on the sideline with headphone and a play sheet. Play calling and execution are horrific. Time to let Davis start and see what he can do. Other than the first play of the game, Jennings couldn't hit the side of a barn. And why is our only running play a handoff up the middle over and over again? Is Muñoz this bad at offensive design or is Hud the culprit?

Hud. If you recall, our previous OC had major philosophical issues with Hud, and Hud forced him to scale back the offense to fit Huds idea of offense. That OC is now calling plays for a Minnesota team that is doing very well on that side of the ball in the big ten. The Cajuns are still doing the same things they did last year.

I talked to a former offensive player the other day and I asked him this. He said it was not Hud calling plays when he was there.

I am not implying that Hud calls every play, just that he dictates what plays can be called.

This putrid offense is also wasting a decent defense by our standards. Holding Idaho to 23 points should be a W any day.

Wasted a good defensive effort against Tulane too.

Is it just my thinking or did our coaches quit on us with 5 minutes left in the game. I hope they give me one of those time outs for Christmas.

That's the scary part. Johnson's teams could move the ball. Something happened in the past two years. The Cajun teams either lost talent or the coaches can't agree on what works, if anything would work at this level. Unfortunately the answer is probably a bit of both.

We're a putrid offense in the SunBelt that a former 9 game winning SEC quarterback and an NFL running back can't succeed in. That's bad. Come to think of it, look into the mirror, coaches, this is on you.
