Thread: Cajuns Take Care of UWF, 94-72

Also I might be getting ahead of myself but in 2018 we have 17 members of the team that I can count as of now. With only Wright leaving due to graduation you will have:

    Seniors (5)
    Stalcup
    Washington
    Stove
    Bartley
Broussard (I realize he is a walkon)

    Juniors (4)
    Stroman
    Marquetti
    Gant
    Plasaince

    Sophomores (7)
    Aucoin (walkon)
    Brown
    Adebutu (walkon)
    Hardy
    Miller
    Davis
    Evans

Freshman (1) that I know of
    Russell

Seems like a lot of talent and a lot of guys who are going to want minutes, even if you take out Plasaince, Adebutu and Aucoin and even the possibility of redshirting Russell, that leaves you with 13 guys who are going to want minutes, look at that with this years team where you realistically have 9 or 10, with Plasaince and Brown you might top out at 11.

Just an interesting note. I know attrition and all that and possible transfers and redshirts and leaving or being kicked off team, blah blah blah, but man are we going to have enough basketballs for a 14 man rotation.

Who's gant? Are you talking about hassani grant? Pretty sure he transferred out last year.

Look for one of the current pure freshman and perhaps another to redshirt next year. I doubt Russell redshirts as he is a strong outside shooter which is a need. That way, we will still maintain continuity long term with Washington, Stove, Bartley and Stalcup being seniors next season. If I were a college athlete, I would want to redshirt as that gives me more time to enjoy being on scholarship while pursuing a degree.
As far as Plaisance goes, look for him to be the fourth big. Miller got in foul trouble last night and if that occurs regularly, Scottie will have to come in and contribute. The kid from Missouri named Gent was a four star out of HS. Some say he is the best athlete on the team now so while we may not think much about him this season, we likely will talk much about him in 2017-18.

I think "build" is just often overstated. If he's not as good as we though he'd be or it will take him longer for his physical ability to catch up it makes sense but what build does he need to have? Granted, it obviously helps guys to be built like Karl Malone or Lebron James but I heard the same thing about some really good players. I know this is a different platform but I heard the same thing from all the pundits about a draft pick last year that was making noise as nobody heard of him and he was wiry thin and not expected to contribute early because he would have to gain weight to meet he demands of the pro game. Now, Kristaps Porzingis is one of the most notable names in the NBA and is sure to be an all star moving forward and he was thought to not have the build.

I say if a kid is a player, he's a player and you can always structure your game to take advantage of your talents. I'd choose to say that either we just missed on Plaisance or he just isn't developing as much as we'd like to see.

Plaisance is not a D1 player.

Talent usually takes care of too many players. When you get into the harder games even BobbyBigfish will have no problem deciding who gets minutes. The rest can go or leave, maybe even asked to be placed.

Too much talent, not a problem. Too little will always be our faith, as with virtually every team in any sport.
