I think the issue may be how many game type scrimmages can be done with the limited practice dates in the fall. You are on limited pitches for all your pitchers normally, and this is made more difficult when you are on pitch limits or shut down pitchers totally to keep them healthy for the spring. They have also reduced the amount of games for the fall world series further limiting live action opportunities. Then when spring rolls around you are ramping up pitchers gradually so I don't think you have many game type scrimmages during that period as well. I don't think any of the hitters saw much of our top 6-8 guys in the fall, and they are seeing them from other teams in the spring. If the limited AB's is indeed an issue you would expect the guys to continue to improve as the season goes on. We'll just have to watch and see.
