Bowl Eligibility

La Tech destroyed Rice last night in Ruston, thus becoming the first team in the state to become bowl eligible.

LSU has five wins and will no doubt pick up another against Miss St that will make them bowl eligible.

Tulane lost to SMU to run its record to 3-5. With games left against Houston, UCF, and Temple, it is highly unlikely that Tulane will be eligible for a bowl this year.

ULM was completely ULM'd by Ark St last night, once again showing that the Warhawks have no business playing at the FBS level. They are eliminated from bowl contention.

Which brings us to UL. In our remaining games, we should destroy ULM, win against Idaho, and lose against UGA. The question is: Can we pick up our sixth win against either of GA Southern or Ark St to become bowl eligible? Doing so would be a big deal for our program. People don't really make any distinction between a 6-6 team that's playing in a bowl game and an 8-4 team that is. What matters is being one of the 80 teams that goes bowling. I think our chances are about 50-50 of pulling it off.

I think we can beat GA Southern but I feel stAte will take us to the wood shed. I was not impressed with GA Southern the few times I've watched them this year. lastly, stAte is peaking after starting off horrible.

No one in the SBC has more than 6 losses right now, including ULM. Technically, no one is eliminated from bowl eligibility yet.

There are 7 FBS teams that have more than 6 losses at this time.

I wager that if the flagship finishes with just five wins they find a loophole, arguining they didnt play 12 or something like that. Even though bowl eligibilty was already six before ncaa allowed 12 game regular season...ever wonder why they went to 12, the tale is very interesting!!!
