Four tapped for UL Athletics Hall of Fame

Three ex-UL athletes and a former Ragin’ Cajuns coach have been selected for induction this year into the UL Athletics Hall of Fame.

The four: baseball pitcher B.J. Ryan, softball pitcher Melissa Coronado Abner, tennis player John Breaux and late basketball coach Beryl Shipley.

Didn't they just change a rule last year that wouldn't allow Coach Shipley to be eligible?

I guess that would be a reason. Sad it would have taken them this long.

It was the S-Club or Letterman's Hall of Fame.

The One new member per year rule was broken a while back. Times change.

I agree Louisiana Athletics Hall of Fame should include coaches. ... There is a backlog of candidates.

---Quantification increases lessen qualifications or it seems to at times----I don't like jersey retirements, but love the honoring of the great ones which could be done by various other methods---I love the walls inside the APC with UL efforts/records and nice to see some historical highlights on the lobby area walls (ego alert---LOL)----I remember last year or so when Ron Guidry was inducted and how he really loved it----Very humbling in my being included and very nice to see this tradition being carried on by the school!!!

Any Athletic HoF at UL which does not have Coach Lancon in it is worthless. That is like having a HoF [20 years from now] at UL and not having Mike Lotief or Tony Robichaux in it.
