Ok. And my point is still this O won't be effective if the QB is not a serious run threat. So the question is what do you do continue with a guy who can't run and his coaches obviously don't trust him to throw anything other than jump balls along the boundary. Or do we go with a guy who can run and I'd assume can throw it up for grabs as well? Either way this O is one hot mess and would appear to be in a heap of trouble next year unless they find a savior juco or graduate transfer at QB.

    This is 100% the issue.

-------unless you talk to the team trainer/team doctor you can't tell how bad the injury is effecting not only his running but also throwing accuracy and velocity----he has gone high more than a few times and favoring an ankle injury or subconscious pain anticipation obviously can be a factor---back or front foot plants can easily cause disruption to the throwing motion and delivery!!!

The bottom line is for huds offense to be successful we need QB who is a threat to run. AJ has not been that all year. This year he has looked very timid when he runs. Unless you can figure out a way for the runs from 2 yrs ago help us now "what difference at this point does it make".
My point is this, he isn't going anywhere and he is playing is butt off injured for this program right now. So going forward there is no question in my mind that he will continue play. How fast Davis can run is irrelevant, when he gets his chance it will be because Jennings failed and probably not before that time. That's 3 wins now at this point and Davis will have to a better job in practice to convince the staff he deserves a shot.

That's pretty much the point Mike. The guy can't run well right now. The staff doesn't have confidence in Davis right now and I've seen nothing from him to suggest they should since spring. If we lose a couple of more games going forward, I could see Davis getting a shot. But I'm willing to bet right now that the QB for next season isn't on this roster today.

Until your post yeasterday, I was unaware of the injury to Jennings. I hope he can get healthy before the Idaho game.

I agree with your last statement 100% which shows this staff has absolutely failed at requruting and developing a QB out of high school in the last 4 yrs. I have seen Desormeaux in the past play his butt of injured, can't say I see the same level of toughness at that position today.

I don't watch practice, but no doubt about it in the small sample we have of games, Davis can extend plays with his feet better than we are seeing now. Many times I've seen receivers covered AJ have all day then he chunks it out of bounds. JD could turn that into positive yards with his feet. Also no question if he is running zone read it would open things up for Eli as they would have to respect his ability to run.

Not saying I have the answer but ULM hung 40 on that txst D and we not going to see another defense that bad. If we stick to status quo it will be a long 2nd half with very few points.

I was coming on here to tell Hud and the fans I was impressed with the turn around against TxSt.

We still have major issues on both fronts, but the team did play as one for the most part.

It's something to build on. I still believe Munoz is a liability, but I'll retract the idiot part. Hud still needs to improve the talent. And game planning. Farmer needs to be fired. TJoe needs to grow a pair.

Now in all that kumbaya - let's remember a couple things - AJ has been playing injured, impressive for a 5th year senior who has the least amount invested of anyone. Especially after the rough stretch our coaches have placed him with the game plans versus Tulane and NMSU. Our oline needs VAST improvement, our receivers need route running lessons, and AJ needs to work on compensating for his injury affect throws. As far as AJ being a running threat, if our oline gave him time to throw, then him taking off would actually garner more yards of space. But right now he's running for his life at the snap.

Idaho and ULM are the 2 possible wins we have left. If we drop either, I'll return to my regularly scheduled calling for heads to roll.

Many folks will be frustrated if we drop a few more games. However calling for heads to roll on a message board will only allow you and others to vent. That serves a purpose in itself. However, those calls are meaningless as far as having any impact in the current situation
