LOUISIANA La. — At least one of Louisiana's returning men’s basketball player will be forced to sit out the fall semester due to academic shortcomings, but Ragin’ Cajun head coach Jessie Evans said that Cedric Williams will probably be by himself on the sidelines.
Evans said Wednesday that he expects both returning junior center Michael Southall and junior transfer Orien Greene to be academically eligible for the Cajuns’ entire 2003-04 season once summer school grades are finalized.
“I definitely expect Southall to be eligible,” he said, “and Orien should be in good shape, also.”
The 6-foot-10 Southall, a returning All-Sun Belt Conference selection, and the 6-foot-5 Greene, a transfer from Florida prior to last season, both needed summer school classes to retain eligibility. Finals for the summer term ended Saturday, but final grades have not been posted.
