I love that Jay is a fan. The alternative would be terrible. I love that Jay is honestly invested in the program.

Where Jay and I have disagreed is the platform on talk radio, specifically about the administration. In my opinion, you can't on one hand take a soft stance on being skeptical toward the admin, and on the other take a hard line stance on fans. I get it; fans can be annoying, over inflated, take things too seriously, read into things, etc. But still, they are the life blood of a strong athletic program, which ultimately is what Jay wants. It's what we all want (well except for a few).

Relationships complicate things, there is no doubt about that. I can't honestly say I would be an objective person when critiquing Tony Robichaux. But I do think Jay could do some good (and has asked some important questions to Farmer recently) by questioning some things that are going on within our athletic offices publicly.

Larry Munson wouldn't hesitate to call a spade, a spade. A good voice of a program is like a parent. Let's you know when you suck, but loves it with every bit of his life when you succeed. The voice of a program should not cover up or hide to protect the program. It's less important in this day and age, as we now have access to information that normally wouldn't be available. That doesn't change what it should be.

So, in the spring of 2016, 1420 did a 0.9 quarter hour share. That means that for every 100 people listening to the radio in any given 15 minute period, 99 people are listening to another station, and less than 1 is listening to 1420. Where have all the listeners gone?

Many are quick to criticize Jay for not being critical but forget Shultz was pulled off the air for a few days this summer at the height of the Tigue debate. There is your difference between the two. One crossed the understood EMPLOYER designated line, the other did not. Whether or not we agree, management calls the shots at the respective stations.

That has absolutely nothing to do with whats being discussed. Farmer called Chuck Wood specifically because Schultz was asking the questions no one else was willing to ask publicly. We learned a lot this summer because of people who were willing to say what needed to be said.

----And I loved as did all the Hap Glaudi Show---you came on and gave your opinion and he at times had questions about it---he really didn't give a lot of input in as it was fan directed---occasionally he would do a great commentary on which callers could comment if they wanted----Some would claim that he had a Tulane or LSU preference and he would mention that the only ring he had was from Jesuit High School!!! He was thought to have invented "Happy talk" on TV as he would talk to the the Weather and news guys between breaks!
