Used to listen to Stevie P in the mornings. Ever since Free Beer & Hot Wings came into Lafayette, I've listened to them every morning I'm driving to work. Great stuff. It's not 99% political like Walton & Johnson became when they realized there was boat loads of cash to be made pandering to retards.

On the way home, I cannot bring myself to listen to Jay or Scott. Scott has always grated on my nerves in the worst way.

In that case, it should be a very short meeting.

Did you go to the live show @ Grant Street? I worked with a bunch of guys that went, including the husband of the non winner in the tee shirt contest. Yeah, the one that allegedly got buck naked or very close to. Some things you can't un see.

It is absolutely amazing that someone who has any stake in KPEL as a business can listen to a segment on 1420 and not immediately make a change. The talking points that Moon Head brings up is comical (not in a good way) and his "I told you so" elitist attitude makes him sound like a total jack ___.

I understand Houston is a much larger market than Lafayette. However, 103.7 has proven that it is possible to produce a radio show that sounds professional in Lafayette.

I have looked for a list of 1420's sponsors but haven't had any luck. If anyone knows where I can find it please let me know. I plan to politely inform those sponsors that because they support a radio station who employs a talk show host that constantly insults the local University's fanbase I will not be patronizing them.

Maybe losing a few sponsors due to Mooney Walker will get the attention of KPEL management. As I am typing this I know the management or owners of KPEL could not care less about what the station broadcasts. As I said above, anyone who listen to even one segmemt of BEV instantly understands that the host is an arrogant ___ clown who knows very little about sports. The amount of air time that is wasted by annoying fillers on that show is unforgivable. The only thing more annoying than TTT is the Hellllloooooooooooooo Everybody that the host yells into the mic to open up the 4 o'clock show.

How can no oneclose to these guys, even a family member, tell them that these antics are absolutely horrible? Their families should be ashamed that they allow their loved ones to continue this type of crap on live radio without trying to tell them how stupid it makes them sound.
I completely understand people's view of Jay in regards to how he sometimes treats callers..I get it believe me. However, I remember when goofball Schultz came here and he mocked our name on the radio and he has that same know it all attitude that Jay has but just has a different method of displaying it. I hated that he knew nothing of our local teams and talked more Patriots than Saints.

I also attended a "fundraiser" wine tasting right before the Boise game where he was the guest speaker and got up and gave a preview of the matchup of the two teams. It was obvious to me that he knows just the basic information of the team that he gets through media reports and interviews with little other insight.

I know many people here have started to like him over Jay because he's been willing to go out and hammer Farmer on the radio (much of that deserved) to get some answers and there is certainly a place for that as people wanted answers to the Tigue debacle and you weren't getting them through any other outlet so I do applaud him for that but he doesn't impress me any more than anyone else in the market.

On Jay, yes 1420 covers all things Cajuns. I appreciate this but I completely get why they are not uber critical of the university in public due to this relationship. I don't know why this upsets as many people as it does though. You have a mutual partnership with someone who is paying you to cover sports and broadcast events, do people think that the partner is going to like it if the other is bending them over in public? That relationship won't exist very long.

Gary and Shannon are just bad and it sucks to say that because Gary is really a great guy but the show lacks depth and insight into anything.

I am still amazed to see very little bad about Ryckman's show. That is just the absolute worst for radio. Some of his guests are OK but he just has no place on radio. He can't pronounce names and in general just seems to have trouble with the English language. It pains me to listen.

I have absolutely no issue with this. My issue is that IF you are a publicist for the program, as we can all agree Mr. Moon is, do NOT claim to be a journalist when covering the program for which you are an advertising agent. Jay could be a good journalist; he writes well and speaks well, and he knows what questions to ask. But when covering the Cajuns, he is a publicist.

If you recall, he kept hammering people on here for not giving up sources, yet when asked for HIS sources, he claimed journalistic integrity demanded he not give them. People here called him on his BS, based on the fact that he is NOT a journalist when dealing with the Cajuns.

It probably comes down to personal preference. When I was younger, I wanted a homer calling games and doing local talk. Now that I'm older and more involved, I want facts and objectivity. Shultz gives you that. And it's desperately needed in our market.

I get that he probably upset people with the way he started here; I was one of those people. But to suggest that the guy knows "the basics" is ridiculous. I speak to Dave fairly often. The man is dedicated to his job and delivering a good product. And I appreciate his professionalism. I appreciate that he (and really most of 103.7 hosts) tells me what I need to hear, not what he thinks I want to hear.

I always want a homer calling the games. I want a homer pimping the programs. I want a journalist on hard news. If he would just admit he's the first two, and not the third.

I appreciate your comments. I want unbiased coverage. I want someone to be the "voice" of the fans. There is not greater connected media member to the university than Jay Walker. I also understand that he can't "throw the university under the bus" because of the relationship he and the radio station has to the university. Now, he also calls himself of a fan of the university and the sports programs. That creates a bias. He can't be objective. I get frustrated because I want him to be unbiased member of the media and he can't objectively do that. I also think it was wrong for him to position himself as a "media member" on this very board. Then, he gets mad when posters give their opinion, packs up and leaves, then slams the same fans that he entertained on this board.

Jay should never come back on this board. If he ever wants to be considered "credible", then he has to take a chance and question the administration the way he should.

You are right about Ryckman's show. I listened for a while then he had a guest, former football player, who stated that the "concussion problem" was overstated in football, and that in his day you just powered through those things. Geez.
