I like Scott. The dude is as genuine as it comes, and when I say he'd give you the shirt off his back if you're in need, I'm not just repeating some overused character line.

That said, I cringe every time he does that. When I used to live in Acadiana and listed to his show, I kept hoping that was just a temporary thing.

I know radio every day is tough. I know these personalities try to find a shtic to make the stand out amongst everyone else. But that intro is bad.

Look at the successful guys, even on a regional/local level. Walton & Johnson on the Gulf Coast. They have a shtic, but it isn't some annoying intro. You mention Houston radio. I enjoy "The Blitz" with Fred and AJ. They don't need that corny intro.

Scott's strength is his NOLA sports connections. He doesn't need some annoying intro. It only takes away from what he is able to bring.

I listen to the "The Blitz" every day on my drive home from work. This is the only time I ever listen to radio. They cover the local sports well but also talk national buzz and enjoy their takes on betting, MMA and beer recommendations.

Here is what I think is kind of funny about this and other threads about Jay Walker BEV. You guys think calling him John Moon is funny or some kind of insult.

Well.. since that is his real (non-radio) name, I doubt you are getting much of a rise out of him on that one. Just saying...

I have not listened to BEV in years because I do not live in Lafayette anymore but I think to some extent Jay has to keep the UL administration happy rather than being totally objective.

Having said that, I do think Jay made kind of an ___ of himself when he stopped posting on RP. His departing remarks were kind of out there. Maybe he should not have been posting here in the first place, considering his relationship with the administration. He will not rock the boat.

The greatest radio program to ever play in Lafayette was Don and Mike on the old 1330.

I still listen to their archived shows, usually while at work. Radio genius.

I switch back and forth between 1420 and 103.7. They both have strengths and weaknesses. I dont mind Jay at all and really like Scott. Someone mentioned the Friday am brothers. That ---- is just terrible! All TTT is just unlistenable crap that wastes my time. I turn it off immediately.

The use of John Moon is because he called "us" faceless buffoons who are behind computer screens insulting people, etc... He doesn't even use his real name (not just a "radio" name) he actually doesn't use HIS REAL NAME. That's the comical twist.....

In the fall of 14, KPEL AM (1420) had a 1.1 share while KLWB (103.7 FM) had a 0.6 share. In the spring of 16, 1420 AM had a 0.9 share while 103.7 FM had a 0.6 share. In conclusion, while 1420 AM is suffering a slight market share loss, it is not to 103.7 FM. They are losing it to the music stations. 103.7 FM is having no success in growing it's share.

In regards to KPEL AM discussing Cajun athletics. Jay and Scott did discuss what the Cajun football team needs to do to turn things around in the 4 PM hour. Conclusion was they need to have improved OL play and a healthy Eli. This will allow a more effective running game which will lead to play action success in the passing game. With improved offense, there won't be so much pressure on the defense. Jay also previewed today's show in which Scott Farmer will make his monthly appearance. Main topic will be football scheduling philosophy. Cajun fall baseball practice was also discussed due to a couple of calls. It is not accurate to say Cajun athletics was not discussed on KPEL yesterday. Granted, the first hour had a lot of focus on the current baseball playoffs. That is a big national story these days so it makes sense there would be some time spent on that topic.
Turned on BEV at 3:00 and GUESS WHAT-- NO SF!! No MENTION of SF, or what happened to him--just SOLID baseball talk......

Discussions with T-Joe on how to better prepare for the next conference realignment. Time spent strategizing about our next move is better than time spent on the radio.
