LOL @ "going to games" being equivalent to "supporting the university."
LOL @ "going to games" being equivalent to "supporting the university."
I'm not a ULM fan. I just picked that name because y'all are so touchy with the name subject. I don't dislike Lafayette, I just don't support the university. I lived in North Louisiana for 22 years of my life...New Orleans for 4 years, Alex 5 years, and now Lafayette for 4 years (that would be why I have deep ties to NSU and LA Tech). I love Louisiana and will always cheer for LSU as our state school. Obviously I don't only support winners or I wouldn't be a NSU (0-11) or LA Tech (rare bowl games/winning seasons) fan. If I was born in an area and grew up cheering for them, why all of the sudden would I move to a new town and develop a fondness for a new school?
You don't see an Alabama fan move to Louisiana and become a LSU fan do you? There aren't just graduates of LSU, UL@Lafayette, LA Tech, SLU, NSU, McNeese schools in Lafayette you know. And yes I will continue, and will always donate money to TAF and LTAC because they are MY schools from my regions...If I was from the ULL region I would likely be a fan of them and LSU it's just not the case. UL/L has nothing to do with the city I currently live in, it is just the region it was given to serve.
I bet UL/L would love to have the $250,000 from having an extra 10,000 people in the seats to support their socialized Louisiana tax payer run athletic program...it would be great if you were able to choose which athletic dept your tax dollars went to support instead of the state saying UL/L will get $6M, LA Tech $4.5M, ULM $4M...
By your own admission, you're an antagonizer and a s h ! t t y fan. Why is it that people who move around a lot decide they can be a "real fan" of the places "they lived"? When I leave lafayette, I'm not going to become a fan of any other place. When UL is losing, I'm not a fan of any other school. The word fan is short for FANATIC, and I'm sorry, but you just can't be a FANATIC of all these different places. The misconception that LSU is "our State school" is horse s h ! t. It's all relevant. You don't get to pick a local school, regional school, state school, BCS school, NAIA school, JUCO school to be a FANATIC about!!! You're either a FAN of ONE school, or you're not, period.
Obviously, this is my opinion, but I think a lot of people would agree that you can only have one favorite team. And again, if you don't like the school, why are you guys on the god damn FAN FORUM?!?
And with the rankings mentioned earlier UL should only be expected to go .500 vs those schools "who recruit about as well as UL."
The fact that UL is finishing .500 overall can only mean only 2 things; the UL coaches "coach up" beyond belief or the rankings are dead wrong.
Why can't I root for schools on different levels? I mean obviously NWST and McNeese are on a smaller level of college athletics as compared to the DI schools, as well the Non BCS vs BCS schools are on different levels. I am a fan or "fanatic" of LSU and the saints even though I went to Tech, I just will always pull for the schools that my parents went (that I grew up pulling for) from where I lived for over 20 years. What I'm trying to say is I've had direct conections with the other 2 for a long long time so I pull for them. Saying you can't pull for 2 teams on different levels is like saying you can't have an NFL team and college team. I'm pretty sure most of the fans of college football are also fans of a NFL team.
I can understand your logic. Hell, I went to grad school at LSU and came away hating the school more than I originally did along with the city of Baton Rouge. It only worked in reverse for me. However, because I was a student there and it hurt me to pay tuition, I still did not like nor support the university so I followed the same logic.
Scout has Troy with 2-3star guys and a 4 star player. They also have FIU with ONE 3-star commit. I'd tend to believe their rankings over Rivals and not for the reasons you'd think. If you compare ESPN's rankings of signed players versus Rivals, you'd see a larger discrepancy as well. I think all of the rankings systems are skewed and flawed with Rivals being more so.
Might be your state school. It'll never be mine.
You're free to cheer for whoever you want. The bigger question is why someone (that would be you) goes out of their way to be such an ass on other school's message boards? Must be what happens when you're a douche with no life.
I do the same thing you do, the only difference is I am not blinded. I represent 90% of the state of Louisiana and their views. What state do you live in then? There is only one "flagship" state school in Louisiana and that is Louisiana State University. I've never read, seen, or heard of any others released by the state of Louisiana. You don't have to like it...but it is what it is.
