Dude, seriously... LSU happens to be the largest university in the state. Good for them. But to even HINT that all residents of Louisiana should bow down to a legislatively ENFORCED declaration that LSU is "our" state flagship university?

Reminds me of when the Dallas Cowboys declared themselves as "America's Team". At least they had (at the time) something to back it up.

by blinded I meant that the rest of the state has at least 2 schools they root for and are not blinded by hatred/jealousy. They root for their regional school that competes in a smaller conference or I-AA, then another larger school that competes at a national level (rather it be Texas, LSU, A&M, Bama, Ole Miss, etc)

And BTW LSU is in no way like the cowboys...LSU has been the state school (or "Flagship") since 1860. They don't make false statements of superiority like the cowboys, the state has already appointed them as such. The cowboys have been self-appointed. If anything USL is like the cowboys self-appointing themselves to a superior status they have no claim over. Like the please call us UL and Louisiana, we are the largest in our system...please let us be a flagship even though we didn't prexist 3 of the other UL-system schools. Now thats false! If you think that 90% of this state aren't LSU fans you are really really really blinded and need to leave the 20 mile radius of lafayette. LSU is the flagship because the state says so. They also meet all qualifications that no other regional state school meets. I'm not saying all bow down, just most that aren't jealous. Go to Shreveport, New Orleans, Alexandria, Natchitoches, Slidell, Monroe, Mandeville, and see how many LSU stores you see. Then ask someone if they ever watch Louisiana on TV, they'll say what show did you watch in Louisiana. Ask them if UL won last night, they'll say I don't know...why do you care about Louisville?

Released? You mean legislated, don't you? You are correct in that I don't have to like it. And I exercise that right. And I'm not blinded by anything. I see it for what it is, an attempt to restrict the achievement of others. Regardless of what the legislature decrees, it doesn't make State "my state school".

Hatred and Jealousy? Are you serious? Look, if you want to root for LSU, then go right ahead. Nobody will blame you.

Just don't sign up here and tell us to do the same. We have a few members here who are fans of LSU, LA Tech, Middle Tennessee, etc., who basically want to talk athletics in a respectful manner. That's all we ask. We enjoy hearing other points of view from different programs.

You, on the other hand, apparently signed up due to some emotional issue/malfunction. Sorry, but it's difficult to relate to why you are here.

I'd rather status be based on achievement rather than age. But then I wouldn't expect the WalMart State alumni to understand that concept.

Lets talk about achievement...Tier 4, wonderful! Socailized crappy athletics program run by tax payer money, as well probably the ugliest campus in Louisiana. How great would it be the state mandated you be in I-AA if you take more than 3M from the state in athletics. You talk about the state holding you back, why is it that USL gets the most athletic funding in the state? USL doing less with more since 1900.
