LOUISIANA 2016-17 Basketball Predictions

We will absolutely have to be able to shoot the ball better this year from the perimeter. Period.

UL athletics is in a sad state. Football was picked 5th behind GA State and is now 2-4 and unable to even score a point in its last game, women's basketball is picked 5th and men's basketball is picked 7th in the WORSE conference in the country. We are underperforming in ALL sports except baseball and softball. Thank God for those two spring sports, but unfortunately they don't drive the bus.

I agree with everything you said Mike; but I honestly believe that Marlin COULD schedule better OOC games at home, if he really wanted to. He is not a good enough coach to regularly beat good teams, even at home, so he schedules patsies to pad his record.

Also when passing out praise? How can you ignore Coach Mike fighting for his life, a back stabbing AD, and a weak conference?

You challenged everyone who are doing their best to get change. You're an enabler. So am I. But at least I'm protesting. And yes I'd tell Marlin, FarmerBROWN, and t-jo what I think of them, and how they're doing their job.

Marlin's consistently put together a very weak OOC schedule. So when Mike lists facts he should include that.

I'm glad that you care enough to work for change. You do it your way and I'll do it mine. I continue to support these programs as I have done through MUCH darker times than this.

I was just talking about the men's sports. Coach Mike is on a different planet as far as I am concern for what he and his wife has done for this university.

Bats have been down and I agree it could be a concern, but I am just comparing to the other men's sports at UL, but we continue to win and ranked in the Top 25. Our pitching staff is one, if not the best in the country. Defense should be sharper this year as well. But, I agree we will need better hitting to get to that next level.

The SBC is no where near the worst conference in the country in basketball. Last year the league was somewhere in the middle of the RPI rankings. Recall there are over 30 D1 basketball conferences. The league is one of the few mid-majors to have their representative win an NCAA Tourney game for two consecutive years. This year the team picked first (UTA) has all five starters back and had a successful season in 2015-2016. In fact, they had a couple of road wins against major schools. Basketball wise I am just promoting more FACTS. Predictions are only opinions at this point and it is understandable both squads are picked in the middle due to folks that have moved on. That is normal for all schools. Football wise, it is debatable if either it or CUSA is the worst in the nation. I also won't argue the point that football and basketball are the main attention getters and football was disappointing both last year and to date in 2017.

The bats are gone? Have you taken a look at our projected lineup? 2017 club will hit above .300 as a team.

Don't want to thread jack. As I stated earlier, I think this basketball team will overachieve. Overachieving will mean something different to everyone though..

The last two seasons have been a challenge at the plate. Prospects are just that until they face quality 1A pitching. I'm hoping we're back to the days when Degg was here at the plate.

While I understand this concept; with the front court we had last year, we would have just had to be more effective getting the ball into the block area to win 4 or 5 more games. Our guard play was horrible in every possible way offensively. I can't tell you how many times I saw Shawn or Bryce posted up in the block and wide open, and our guards were playing "dribble around the perimeter".
