He out coached Patrino when he was at WKU.

Mey, it doesn't have to be a chess match to out-coach (or be out-coached by) your opponent.

If we are going to assign him blame for the losses, then he gets credit for coaching in wins. He out coached the other guy 42 times at UL.

I don't think that's the issue. It's when has his coaching elevated the team's performance above it's apparent talent level? When has he done more with less? Ever? I think three of the 4 bowl wins he did. But after that the pickens are slim. And in many cases he had his pants pulled down by the other coach on national TV. I'm not sure why he coaches so well in the bowl games....outclassing 3 teams that were arguably better than us, but can't do it during the regular season, or really come even close.

I do think Hud had more confidence in our players back in year 1. We played a much more balanced offense. And in our bowls, for whatever reason (probably the dominant fans and big stage) our athletes on defense rose to the occasion.

Hey ohhh!!! I literally LOL on this one. This is easily one of my all time favorite post on RP.

It's my analogy Turbine! I make the rules! LOL

Seriously, I consider the sum total of coaching, in all respects, to be a football "chess" strategy for winning football games. So, if you've been "out-coached"... you have lost the "football chess match". In my use of those terms, there is no wiggle room. I am saying that when it comes to coaching... there are displays of coaching skills at every game that are either better or worse than the opponent. Every single down. And PS... every athlete on a team is there by permission of the coaching staff.

Huge part of the problem. The media here says that about the teams, but when our team has a losing record, "we're better than the record indicates".

Don't care if you went to overtime with in your last 2. You went OT with NMSU (2 straight losses to them btw), and Tulane (don't even have players to run the coach's scheme).

4-8 last year and 2-3 this year.. that's a trend.

A trend some of us began to notice a long time ago.

yup, only the fans of your team will give excuses why "we didn't win this time". Winners don't make excuses. Do you see bill belichick making excuses saying well we don't have brady, or garropolo. And they were still 3-1 without him

    Very true.

UL is 2 good plays from being 4-1.

Of course, they were also 2 bad plays away from losing the same 2 games in regulation and their record would be 2-3 if that had happened.
