I have reduced my watching to almost nothing. Got tired of watching grown men millionaires complaining about getting or not getting a penalty. Also got tired of a player doing a dance and celebrating after they make a play they were supposed to make. After all they are "professionals". The national anthem protest was the straw that broke the camels back for me.
This right here. I think it's a combination of a lot of things. Cuban said it best last year "Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered". After the year the NFL had the last 2 years, with all the bad press, domestic violence, letting Hardy play after his BS, finding out the military paid the NFL to honor its vets, and on and on.. Every broadcast is now politically charged, to some degree because of this Kaep nonsense. Add that to the election cycle, and ESPN being a faux journalism arm of the Disney company now, and its just not worth it.
I was already on the outs with the NFL when recently it just clicked in my mind that these guys show up on Sundays like normal folks show up to an 8-5 job. Some care, some don't, some are in the middle. But a small percentage of the players care like the fans care. And that's a huge disconnect. But the changing of the rules, the waaay too subjective power that the officiating crews have been given, the ridiculous fines, the flag football mentality, the concussion lawsuits, the entitled nature of the participants (from the owners down to the players)...
I've just completely lost interest. I still keep up with the Saints, but when Drew hangs it up, I'll probably do the same.
Wife heard Wayne Toups is playing at halftime. Wants to go with girls from work. I volunteered to let her go and I stay home with the kids. There isn't much point when all Hud will do is blame everyone around him for his failures. Nothing will change.
Many of us have cut the cable TV cord. I only have internet TV now so no more live NFL. I don't miss it for many of the reasons stated here.
I dont care about the pledge ____, or even celebrations. There is just no comparing Pro Football to college football. Pro football is getting so cookie cutter and corporate that it's just not even fun to watch anymore. It's boring. I have watched Tennessee play these last few Saturdays and haven't seen a pro game that exciting in several years (if ever) Oh and it helps that every game is on tv and I dont have to pay extra just to see games out of my market.
