I was truly scared for him Saturday. That still doesn't mean he was a starting QB. Everyone hoped he'd be great, exactly like we wish that on all our players.
Sorry to see this. Was pretty sure it was broken when I saw it on TV. Great teammate and runner. Wish him the best.
I think he's a good player put in a tough position. I really respect him and wish him well.
I thought it was interesting that after the Cajuns scored a TD with him at quarterback he went to the end of the line as a blocker on the extra point team.
There is no doubt that Nixon has been an important member of our team for 4 years. He has been a leader by word and by example, and has always performed to the best of his ability when called upon, regardless of whether it was as a starting QB or as a blocker on punt and extra point teams.
I am among those who has felt that his talents were misused, but that is not a reflection upon the young man, but upon his coaches. I am certain that he will continue to be a positive influence on his teammates, much as Blaine Gauthier was after his injury.
I wish Mr. Nixon well in his future endeavors.
First let me say that I feel terrible for Jalen Nixon and hope that he recovers ASAP from his injury. He is obviously a good kid, team player and leader. I wish nothing but the best for him going forward.
However, with that said, he was not named the starting QB at the start of the season for a reason! As a matter of fact, before the season it appeared that he would have been the back-up QB to Jordan Davis had AJ not transferred.
I don't want to sound cruel, but Nixon's unfortunate injury will possibly prevent Hudspeth from shooting himself in the foot by being hard headed and benching Jennings in favor of the one dimensional Nixon at QB. If Jennings is not getting the job done, I would think that Davis (the original #1 QB) should be the next man up.
Including that blah blah head coach that moved him to RB... but since he got injured in the spring he couldn't pick up the assignment... so he was reverted back to competing for the QB position.
He didn't get a "bad wrap" with many of our fans. No one ever disliked the young man. We have had issues at the QB position... of which Nixon was an issue. I haven't heard any fan on this forum question him as an exceptional part of the team, his character, his effort, or his leadership.
But yes... it is a shame that his career here ended with injury. And I haven't heard one fan rejoice over it.
