    It's not too complicated now...
Maybe we are going to cut the field in half and attack 1/2 of the field instead of the whole field. The only problem is I think they did that last week.....I only want to see w's...I don't give a damn how they get there.

They're stuck in the Mudspeth. But don't expect the Farmer to pull them out. He'll just teach them to swim in circles... like he did the Marlin. Swimming in mud... in the Sun... Belch!

Coach Johnson took a job that included a huge pay raise back in his home state. Not sure where you were going with one of your glib comments, but we couldn't have kept Jay if we wanted to. But hey, everyone has an opinion...just like _______s.

Nothing glib about the comment. Jay Johnson was the mastermind behind those offenses that had so much success. That's the point.

This is scary!!!! We are officially going to run the Dive offense. So, what happened to all this "more vertical passing game" that we were supposed to employ?

Listening to "Hanging with Hud" this morning on 103.7 The Game and a couple thing stuck with me.

    1. Hud wants to use more backups in OT on the defensive side because the defense has been tired ... if the defense is tired in OT, I am sure they were tired in the 4th quarter. How about you rotate them more during the game. OT is when you want your 1s in the game. Also, if your team is not conditioned to play 4 quarters, you need to take a look at your strength and conditioning program. This is pretty basic stuff.

    2. On offense, he needs to dial up the back shoulder jump ball and the deep pass more because that is what Jennings is good at .... Both are low percentage passes. Jump ball is a gamble and deep passes are completed probably 20-30% of the time at all levels. Is this how you simplify the passing game?

I don't think the defensive fatigue has as much to do with conditioning as it does the ____iness of our offense. The offense is having trouble sustaining drives which is obviously keeping the defense on the field longer. You couple that with our "uptempo" pace, and it reduces the time they have to rest even more. I've never understood this affinity to going fast on offense only to run the dive. I can understand in the passing game but when you are averaging 2.5 yards per carry, why speed the tempo up?

Point taken and I agree. In my mind, if Im the strength and conditioning coach, I would have a program drawn out where my team would be ready to play damn near 4 quarters non stop. I just hate the "tired" excuse.

This... There's nothing like have the defense on their heals and then running a dive. I just don't understand.

Our offense cannot get the ball to our receivers on a regular basis. Thus, no problem for teams to stack the run and hang out in the backfield roaming free. Also, I think our talent seems good at the WR position, yet those guys are always covered like a blanket and have to fight for every pass. When we are on defense, WR's are usually streaking along with a Cajun maybe 3 yards behind. So, it seems to reason, the play design is not working. The defense knows what we are doing on offense.

...and it will only get worse.

The defenses will continue to sell out as long as we let them.

"getting simpler" will only encourage them.

With the current talent, the only way out of this mess is to run the zone read offense completely. Think Desmo/Fenroy/Chery or Babb/Fenroy/Smith.

Those offenses gutted the defenses. We can do the same if our head coach would only let us.

    Goal line situations.

Pounding it up the middle 4 straight times from the 1 makes no sense.

If an OC is willing to go for it on 4th down at the goal line, he must already know this fact on 1st and goal.

Why not use 2 of the four plays to loosen up the Defense? You already know you have four tries.

    Make the defense think.
