God help us if Jennings is our best shot. That means the season is at best 6-6. Jennings reminds me of Aaron Brooks. Lots of hype but no meat to the subject. Like Brooks, Jennings gets credit for the good, but the bad is not his fault. Jennings sucks and if our back up QB's can't beat him out, 6-6 is a long shot.
I don't know if JUCO is the answer or graduate QB like Jennings is the way to go. At least with a JUCO, you have them for 2 years. With a graduate QB, you only have them one year and really don't have time to learn the system. Don't care who the graduate QB is. Jennings sucked at LSU and he sucks here. Everyone said he would be a star over here because he would be facing lesser competition. Well he still sucks here. He didn't suck there because of the capabilities of the athletes, he sucked because he was just a bad QB. He sure didn't get better riding the bench.
Time for a permanent change at QB for the Cajuns.
It wont....
Everybody on this team regardless of position and coaching staff needs to step up. There is plenty of blame to go around here. QB and HC are always the easy targets. They both usually get too much of the credit and the blame.
You are probably right in that it won't change the results on the field. However, one of the main reasons given at the beginning of the season for Jennings at QB over Davis is Jennings had game experience over the other QB's on the roster, even though the other QB's on the roster knew the offensive system better because they had been in the system longer.
So if Davis or Nixon or whoever presently on the roster doesn't get game experience, then next season, a month before the season begins, we will bring in another graduate QB from some other university that sucked at their university and was benched because they sucked there, yet played in more games than our QB's on our roster and will get the start over our present QB's who have been in the system for 1, 2, or 3 years....
Jennings should have never been given the nod over Davis or Nixon or whoever because he didn't have time to learn this system. Plus he really does suck and he will only be here for one year whereas other QB's on your roster will be here 2 or more seasons. Give them the opportunity to get "game" experience so we don't have to go through this every year.
We are back to throwing along the sidelines and not throwing downfield. Our playbook is so limited that any defense can plan for our offense. Stop the run, up the middle (only), and stop short passes along the line of scrimmage. That is a failure for anyone, no matter who the QB is.
Well 6/6 is out the window. Frankly we're lucky to win another game, two tops.
Not on Saturday. He was clearly out of sorts and his timing and decision making were on pause. Nixon came in, led the team to a TD and he even was throwing the ball down the field on the first series. However, as always, the coaches got in their own way and decided that adding a vertical component to the passing game was just too much balance and we don't want that.
