Tulane used a 5 man front which makes it hard to get to the outside. Add that to the trouble we had protecting Jennings and you begin to understand why we had to attack the middle. My view is that Eli should have been spelled more. I would particularly like to see Calais get more carries. He has shown a knack to be hard to bring down and get tough yards. Hud said Eli did not want to come out. The coaching staff should have sat him some for his own good despite his wishes. That is their call, not the player. Late in the game both defenses were gassed which is why we had some success getting to the outside in OT. I know I am beating a dead horse with this comment. However, I maintain not having Horst at Right Tackle was a huge factor in this situation. I know other guys are expected to step up but it is unrealistic to expect a guy who is 3rd team to be as effective as a 2 year starter. I am certain the outcome would have been different had Horst been available. Turnovers don't occur if he is on the OL.

To run Elijah up the middle 3 times in a row from the 4 was beyond stupid . There is no way they could make the Cajuns easier to defend than to run that playcall sequence. If there is a silver lining less than 2 years ago Houston lost to Tulane on homecoming weekend in a pathetic performance. It cost Tony Levine his job. I feel the same way watching the Cajuns play offense as I did the Cougars then. The offensive plan is beyond mind numbing bad. If you are just going to run up the middle all the time get in the I formation. At least give your linemen a chance. What is the true cost of a Hudspeth buyout? Levine was making roughly 800,000.00/ year with 4 years left on his deal but we were only on the hook for $ 250,000.00 /year. Surely the Hudspeth contract has to have some type of reduced buyout. If not you need to fire whoever gave him the current contract first.

Obviously Lsu is a great job and Herman is near the top of every wish list. Call it naivete but there is a chance we can keep him for a bit. I have resigned myself to just enjoying this season and not worrying about losing him. While it sucks to have your coach hired away it is better than having a coach nobody wants.

Certainly he is not their league yet but my gosh I would not feel comfortable betting against him. Beating fsu and ou in convincing fashion with lesser talented players on a national stage tells me he is one of the special ones. I for one am sure enjoying it.
