Thread: UL's Hudspeth sees a team 'coming together'

  1. Default UL's Hudspeth sees a team 'coming together'

If it weren't for a 41-39 four-overtime loss at Tulane on Saturday night, UL would be 3-1

I see a coaching staff coming apart at the seems.

Completely agree. 100% of the loss falls on the coaches. Hud failed his defensive players by not being more aggressive offensively. The OT offensive playbook should have been used all game.

I will say this, IF the defense comes to play each game the rest of the season like they did during regulation this past Saturday night, we will have a legit shot to win every game left on the schedule.

Big if, but the past two games have given some encouragement on the defensive side of the ball. First time in a long time.

We MUST get a handle on the turnovers, though.

We need a handle on coaching decisions.

The problem is it's a long season and with injuries likely to happen we as what other mid majors don't have is depth on defense, so eventually we will have to win with offense.

I'd agree with you on Texas State and Georgia Southern. Those are two option teams that aren't going to pass a whole lot. Everyone else is going to roast us deep like cheap meat.

We still can't defend a competent passing team. We got beat by the pass from #128 in the FBS passing game.

Yes and no. Yes, they got beat by a team that passed to win, but no, I could see where the defense was "lulled" into a safe feeling because Tulane was being dominated by the defense. They inserted the passing guy and he went to work. Should they have been prepared for it, yes. They didn't adjust to it (which involves coaching).
