Great news, definitely the most complete class (on paper) that Bustle has ever gotten.

Josh, What offers did Benay turn down at the last minute?

You referred to him turning down some bigger schools in your blog.

Miami (Fla.) recently tried to get him to turn. The Hurricanes signed one of his Kilgore teammates, TE Chase Ford.

With LSU landing some big last minute recruits, maybe there's a possibility they'd only be able to give Bates a greyshirt.

Thus changing things..? I know it's not gonna happen, but still.

Should a parent make their child's at this age?
Not sure I could do that to my son if he wanted to make a different decision. It is his life.
Bottom line is that all of this stuff could be rumors.
I can confirm that a member of his HS team did say that he wanted to attend ULL for better playing time opportunity. And the kids talk all the time.

Getting our hopes up on this is probably not good. Could we conceivably sign him even if we wanted to? Are we over the limit scholarship wise?

It was my understanding that Bates was told by LSU coaches that he would grayshirt a few weeks ago. He has not responded to my attempts to reach him.

Well they do have to cover all 100+ D1 teams along with 1-AA as well. I dont blame them for worrying about the BCS programs first.
