I would suggest taking the St. Charles street car and walking through campus to the stadium. Stay away from Claiborne.

I'm assuming there are cabs available after the game? 'Cause a cab from the hotel is the best way to get to the game.
I'm not staying in NOLA, I'm driving from home to the game and then back home. I need info on where to park. What garages/lots is everyone else using? Parking for TU football games looks just plain awful. Do I need to pre-buy one of the lot tags before going?
with the lack of responses here, I'm seeing why we didn't sell out our allotment. If we don't have 4-5K UL fans there in red, we should be ashamed of ourselves.
On their website, in the game day fan guide, they list several lots that offer free shuttle service to the stadium.
The easiest one listed for Cajun fans is probably the Superdome Garage.
And, to your other point, Yes, the fact that the game is at Yulman with their effed up parking and unsafe situation is going to keep most of the Cajun fans at home.
Sorry, we are staying in a hotel in NO and taking public transportation to/from the game.
Probably St. Charles Ave streetcar.
If you go early there should be street parking available around Tulane. Remember to obey ALL street signs. Nola Meter Maids are vicious creatures. As for safety, I hear it is all good on gamedays. You have to get near Gertown before it gets dicey. I know there are some large parking garages, but I would imagine they are expensive.
Our group will be taking Uber.
