too close.. 31-27 cajuns their style of offence with us still learning the 4 d lineman scheme is gonna be tough. but i can see a lost. My pick is strictly homerism

Our kicking game is shaky, our game management is still horrible and they have an edge in the coaching department. These are the kind of games this stuff shows up. Everyone keeps saying that we have to keep our gap discipline, but that's been the problem with this defense for a long time. Being gap sound has always been a problem. I also have yet to see good safety play. its also our first road game of the year.
I think the safety play has been much once they moved T. Walker back to SS. As for gap soundness, UL held USA to an impressive 2.2 YPC. Playing against a vertical challenged Tulame offense plays into the Cajuns defensive strength. You are correct that the kicking game is in shambles. But all the "recruit locals" people should be happy about it.
Cajuns 19 - 10 Tulame
Tough game to call but I think we struggle offensively against a pretty good defense.
24-17 Tulane
Good safety play against Tulane will largely consist of filling gaps against the run. We will likely put our corners on an island a lot in this game unless/until Tulane shows an ability to throw the ball, which they have yet to do this season. I really think Tulane will have problems defending us because of our balance.
Neither Navy nor Wake threw the ball against them, and Southern moved the ball in the air. In fairness, Tulane shut down Southern's run game and was playing with a big lead, so the Jag's passing stats were no doubt affected by that.
Against Tulane, I would use the pass to establish the run. Attack the weakness first and force adjustments that weaken the strength. I would also try to take away the run game and force the Wave to try to beat us with the pass.
Altogether, I favor us in this game because we have better offensive balance, and because Coutts will force Tulane into playing on a long field all night, a huge disadvantage to a running team.

It is very important for us to attack the middle of the field with the downfield passing game. This forces the safeties to back out of the box and opens up running lanes much more than just attacking the outside deep.
