I did the same thing but us as travel partners with Rice and Arkansas State travel partners with La Tex.

OK I voted. Shouldn't NMSU be on the poll since UTEP is included?

  3. Default Re: Conference Membership Force Feed

    NMSU is considered an affiliate

I ended up with around 6 by picking overall athletic programs/geography. After that it was trying to find travel partners.

Not a single one of those schools has ever shown a bit of interest in being in conference with UL. The AAC is a pipe dream for us right now. Anyone that feels like it's either the AAC or bust for us might as well get comfortable with the idea of being in the Sun Belt for a long time.

A geographic reshuffling of the SBC and CUSA makes a lot of sense and is not out of the question for most members of those conferences. I wish we'd work toward making this happen. Something like:

    UTSA-La Tech
    UNT-Ark St
    Rice-UL
    UTEP-NMSU
    TX St-USA
    USM-UAB

Agree would like to see that too but realistically our U offers nothing that 90% of the schools on t- bines list don't offer to a conference as well. Why would those folks want us over the rest of the entire CUSA and belt? (Please don't say baseball and softball)

    Agreed.

What we have to hope for is that during this round of realignment the MWC does nothing.

If they sit still, there will be enough schools on our side to get this reshuffling done.

But your venerable AD said AAC not CUSA.

I thought NMSU was out? and what is the purpose behind the pairs of two, is it just for basketball road trips?

I noticed patriot league plays four game conference series in baseball. I guess to cut down travel, but it seems that if we had four "weekend" conference battle tested starters we would have huge advantage in regionals?

I doubt it would do anything one way or the other.
