So in 1939, the LSU and the Louisiana Legislature realized what a sleeping giant SLI was and conspired to hold you guys back?

That's a very interesting perspective....

1938 (or before) was when the realization occurred.

1939 was when the arm of LSU was extended into "Southwestern" Louisiana.

1950 was when a "new institution" was established.

By the way 1939 didn't need a 2/3 vote and 1950 failed to garner a 2/3 vote as required by the Constitution.

Of course that didn't stop LSU's efforts, what they want they get, or so it seems. Goes back to the Baby Huey Days.

Then please explain why both universities WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY to make sure the name change didn't go thru? If we are so insignificant then why did it matter?
