The school of 1000 traditions and 1000 names. Can't we just get something together, stick with it, and roll along? Nah, we gotta do dumb 5hit like have an announcer count at a basketball game "1 2 3, Cajunssss balllllll." Some of the things that we try to do and never stick with are mind boggling. Kind of like something you'd do for a middle school program.

Sorry for the bitterness but man.......I'm tired of our fuggin approach and operations at times. We are LATE to every damn party which gets us filthy 3rds in my opinion and makes us look extremely silly.

The Constitution of 74 was not the hang up in rolling back the Name Change.

The Constitution actually provided a clear path forward.

The Judge used the logic of "no law says you can" make a name change.

The legislature and constitution had not (to that point in time) reserved or assigned naming rights to either the Legislature or the Board of Regents. Naming rights were unaddressed, but that does not mean the Board of Trustees was guilty of "vainglorious social climbing overreach"

In the Constitution after specifically stating what the Board of Regents COULD DO it went on to speak about powers not vested with the BoR and where they were vested.

1974 Constitution:

"No law says you can" was counterfactual imaginary thinking, it didn't hold water. If a power wasn't specifically given to the Board of Regents it was automatically given to the Board of Trustees without having to be spelled out as a permission.

And how did that legal theory work out on appeal?

One has to do with the Constitution not applying to LSU or those on her back. The other (UofL) has to do with merging two schools into one.

Neither is related to the stand on it own merits situation UL has enjoyed since day one.

McNeese pretended that they were forced to change anything in their name. They just did it so they could be involved in the conversation. The state forgot they existed.
