I'm free to laugh at the self delusions of a bunch of old men who refer to a university they attended more than 30 years ago as "our" university. As if you are given a second thought by the administration or UL Board.

Are you going to give your son permission to refer to the university he attended as "his university" many years after he attended? And yes, those that give hundreds of thousands are very good friends with those that give thousands and those that give hundreds of dollars... so we all influence our leadership at UL (on alumni matters). Most of those large donors, by the way, are over 50. You're delusional if you think any university isn't massively affected by all alumni that "graduated 30 years ago".

The President of the University has been a personal friend of mine for over 30 years...the chairman of the UL board this year is a friend of mine and has been since 1986. Most of the posters on this thread know Dr. Savoie personally. He is one of us. This is a very unique University in that we do feel like family . It truly is Our University.

Then why did Savoie ok the decision to use UL-Lafayette over all of ya'll, his personal friends and owners of the university, objections?

Our administrators are in direct contact with many of the members of this forum. You have no idea how we communicate and how those communications influence things. This is merely a gathering point where many things pertaining to UL get discussed. To believe they aren't in lock step with the messaging going on at all levels of communication at and around UL is incorrect on your part. Now, to believe that the administration allows any alumni demands, by wealthy individuals or "thousands banded together in unison" to override their duties and restrictions as state employees, is ridiculous.

I apologize for using the name for the school that you support that you don't like on your board. I won't do it again if I come back unless I just forget because that's what I'm used to calling it and it's what it's called all the time where I live (Baton Rouge area). I probably won't forget though.
