Why wouldn't it be their university if that is indeed where they went to school? Am I the only one that doesn't understand that statement?

My son is considering UL as a college choice. That's why I pay attention.

Engineering? He would be close to home and when he graduates that project should be in full swing.

I had a student job at the board of supervisors. None of them care individual alums unless they donate hundreds of thousands of dollars or more. A bunch of 60s with middle incomes and donating a couple of hundred dollars per year will not be noticed. Sorry to break that to you.

On the other hand, UL has drastically improved its campus since I went there, especially new university housing, and really good oil industry related departments. It's in my sons top four choices.

I don't live in Lake Charles and agree that Lafayette is better (except for Lafayette traffic)

If that's the case, I'd think you would appreciate the fact that people that attended "our" university 30 years ago still take pride in that fact. So much so that they would consider themselves a part of it and would be happy to say it's "their" university.

Yeah, its a free country. What you don't see, is me talking out of my sss on another schools message board. My Father taught here. My entire family attended or is presently attending UL. It is "our" University. You don't like it, crawl back under your rock.
BTW, we all know that the Admins of UL don't read the boards... LOL! They have someone else do it and report back.

Well Tiggerwhatever, RRman or name du jour, just look at the MSA population data over the years. LC, and BrokeBack U in particular is on the same trajectory as that pimple on my butt...drying up and soon to be forgotten.

The President of the University has been a personal friend of mine for over 30 years...the chairman of the UL board this year is a friend of mine and has been since 1986. Most of the posters on this thread know Dr. Savoie personally. He is one of us. This is a very unique University in that we do feel like family . It truly is Our University.
