I had a student job at the board of supervisors. None of them care individual alums unless they donate hundreds of thousands of dollars or more. A bunch of 60s with middle incomes and donating a couple of hundred dollars per year will not be noticed. Sorry to break that to you.
On the other hand, UL has drastically improved its campus since I went there, especially new university housing, and really good oil industry related departments. It's in my sons top four choices.
I don't live in Lake Charles and agree that Lafayette is better (except for Lafayette traffic)
