The difference between the two fan bases is pretty simple.

McNeese fans are amused by U-S-L fans, we're not envious of them. That's the main difference.

Well, that and the fact that McNeese fans don't suffer from the same delusions of relevance that U-S-L fans suffer from. We're more concerned with the product on the field than we are with how many unsuspecting media outlets we can con into callling us something that we're not, or with wordsmithing our way around the intent of the legislature and the agreements we've made.

No, McNeese fans don't envy you.

We like to laugh at you and we definitely like to beat you, but envy never enters the picture.

The overwhelming sentiment that U-S-L fans get from McNeese fans is pretty basic: It's called pity.

Yes, I'm often amused and the new and innnovative ways you fellows find to conduct your circule jerks in your little echo chamber here. It's like stepping through the looking glass.

You guys are relentless in finding ways to make it curiouser and curiouser...

But, as long as somebody gets conned into calling you U-L, it's all good, right?

Why are McNeese fans here?

Because of the inherent enterainment value. This is probably the funniest place on the interwebs, though I'm pretty sure most of the humor here is unintentional.

It's like watching Monty Python's Black Knight sketch....

You've been de-horsed, flayed and separated from your arms and your legs, but still you scream that it's only a flesh wound, damnit, and the rest of the football playing institutions must yield and acknowledge your the impending ascension to flag ship status, LOL.

Seriously, the only reason fans from any other school bother to come here is for the entertainment value. If you weren't so much fun to laugh at, you'd have the place to yourselves.

And, the thing is...you KNOW this.

Otherwise you wouldn't be so predictably sensitive about the name thing and the other delusions of grandeur that your little echo chamber protects and fosters
