Groth Corp builds pressure relief valves.

Every time UL grows beyond expectations, the State builds a groth school and attaches it to some othe non UL entity.

Groth schools = pressure relief valves.

I think we talke about this earlier in another thread....we had the option of replaying it at another date, or simply cancelling it....Our kids would have had to bus back to Lake Charles...get some sleep, bus back...and then there would have been other logistical nightmares for support staff, fans, etc....

Not to mention that both LSU and McNeese started conference play the following week...moving the game back would have been problematic for both of us...

We're not above taking a forfeit when the situation calls for it..like after we picked up a forfeit win over the University of North Carolina because they used ineligible players. We played the game and though we led them midway through the 4th Quarter, they managed to pull it out on some great plays by Brandon Tate, who's now playing for the Bills...

But, to claim a forfeit on a lightning delay? Nah, that's not how we roll.

Cancelling the game was the right thing to do for everybody involved.

And, since we traveled to BR...showed up...were ready to go, except for the NCAA rules on lightning, LSU paid us what we agreed to before the game. I think they've probably got event insurance for stuff like that.

As for the food thing...I think part of that was we didn't want our kids eating right before playing, since we didn't know when we'd get on the field...i think much of that decision was on the McNeese staff...

It's my understanding that they got a good meal after the game was cancelled...and, let's not forget that they had goody bags from the booster club

Gotcha...well...pressure relief valves provide a necessary function in that they shunt off excess raw materials which exceed production capacity.

Sounds like a perfectly reasonable approach to the ULS system's growth. I'm sure that if Louisiana Tech's campus in Bossier City ever proves to be inadequate to the educational needs in Bossier, that the ULS system will spin off another satellite campus like they did when they created the Southwest Louisiana Industrial Institute.

The UL System is good about that, by your own admission.

    Cool, good answer.
Was lsu upfront with you about the delays, or were they leaving you in the dark, (no pun intended) thinking u had to be ready and didnt?

I still cant believe the hotel excuse? Couldnt lsu have paid for your hotels, maybe this year with the flood there are no hotels but that couldnt have possibly been the case.

Will never forget the goody bags! Ha

    "Tech's campus in Bossier City"

I'm going to have to change the FDR joke to 3 Colleges in every garage.

I've only been to one LSU Game...against McNeese...but from what I understand...Hotel rooms on Saturday nights in BR are tough to come by...

  7. UL Football McNeese coach, players have chip on their shoulder

McNeese State head football coach Lance Guidry remembers well the last time his Cowboys played the UL Ragin' Cajuns in football.

True but, because of the games. Usually their conf foes have much bigger entourages, and maybe even a band. Doesnt seem like that void of your school not filling them would have been magically filled by something else

Funny that lack of hotel rooms never got marked against them in their regional bid packages
