“So what if we’re bowl eligible, we lost to freaking McNeese….again.”
Jay, I'd have to say that if we lose to McNeese, we won't be sniffing bowl eligibility so lets keep things in perspective.

Didn't read. No need to.
DIDN'T READ but...
This might not be a popular statement -
McNeese is to UL what UL is to LSU
McNeese envies what UL has and does. It sees the facilities, it sees our programs being successful (for the majority)on the D1 stage and it's bitter. They HATE us and we act like we don't care about that little spec on the map and that's the way it is. If McNeese wins Saturday. The UL fan base will devour The Hud and Fot Sarmer and his cronies. This will be a MAJOR step back in our program.
We hate LSU. We feel that they hold us down. There's a lot more that goes into the LSU 5hit but it parallels with the above. We envy their money. We envy their fan base (even though 70% are Diamond Shamrock Tigahs). If the Cajuns beat LSU in football, you'll have to put high fences along the basin bridge to stop the misery. A Cajuns win would ultimately end with an entire staff getting chopped at LSU and probably a few buildings burned down on campus.
We act like McNeese is our little sister.
LSU acts like UL is their little red headed step brother.
Just on the record - I hate them both
BOP for the first time in a long time, hit the nail on the head.

Just an edit to the above...
On a total athletic scale, notoriety, academics, etc. UL is way closer to LSU than McNeese is to UL.
The Constitution of 74 was not the hang up in rolling back the Name Change.
The Constitution actually provided a clear path forward.
The Judge used the logic of "no law says you can" make a name change.
The legislature and constitution had not (to that point in time) reserved or assigned naming rights to either the Legislature or the Board of Regents. Naming rights were unaddressed, but that does not mean the Board of Trustees was guilty of "vainglorious social climbing overreach"
In the Constitution after specifically stating what the Board of Regents COULD DO it went on to speak about powers not vested with the BoR and where they were vested.
1974 Constitution:"No law says you can" was counterfactual imaginary thinking, it didn't hold water. If a power wasn't specifically given to the Board of Regents it was automatically given to the Board of Trustees without having to be spelled out as a permission."Powers Not Vested. Powers of management over public institutions of postsecondary education not specifically vested by this Section in the Board of Regents are reserved to ... the Board of Trustees..."
Did you go to The Ohio College of Clown Arts forum last week and posted every minute of the day about your "big" week one matchup last week? Bet you guys were all geared up to play the mighty Fran Tarkenton State or whoever the F y'all played....
We better win this dang game and I hope to never see the Mickey Mouse user names for a long time
StOnge is relelntless. Here is a dude that will rattle on just to hear himself talk. Its like a mosquito you cant get rid of. He'll extoll the virtues of a home playoff game in the "Hole" where only 8k showed up.... and they lost. ...at the same time drone on about how no one cares about a bowl game in the Superdome that 54K attended and was on in primetime and UL won. When hes not blowing LSU, he can be found in the Hole...in fact he is usually the biggest Hole in whole Hole.
