Tech was founded as the Louisiana Industrial Institute in 1894.

UL-L was founded as the Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute in 1901.

I think The Louisiana Tech University of South Central Louisiana @ Lafayette has a nice ring to it.

Hell, for a long time, you even had the same mascot as Louisiana Tech...
    1898

For the first 21 years UL had no mascot.

They just represented the State of Louisiana.

You might want to rethink your premise. The Muddogs represented the South Central part of the state...

As you astutely point out...LSU represented the State of Louisiana.

Providing you with some historical context to the satellite existence you enjoy orbiting around Louisiana Tech is, clearly, a much needed educational service.

You guys have a really short institutional memory...

I thought you were saying Forget It Forget You.

I thought I had been a better host than that.

Actually, you have....Hopefully, you see that "Forget it, Forget you" isn't exactly my style...

You are confusing "State University" with "of Louisiana"

Nothing says "of Louisiana" louder than Cajun Culture.

There are lots of Universities of Louisiana. The one @Lafayette represents the South Central part of the state....

Once again, you are stuck on "Universities of" I am referring to something that is truly "of Louisiana."

Louisiana is made up of many things. Cajun culture is just one of them....The French who came down the Mississippi from Canada and the Islenos who settled south of New Orleans and in New Iberia aren't Cajun but are just as integral to Louisiana's identity...

Even in this, you appear to be overreaching and looking at things myopically....

I am well aware of Louisiana's melting pot status. New Orleans was the largest port for a while.

Still to the outside world (and I know it isnt fair to Cowboys and Tigers) Louisiana is identified as Cajun more than anything else.
