McNeese Week 2016

As I understand it, the McNeese alums, who've done PBP and color commentary before, took the bull by the horns and suggested televising the game in Lake Charles to Raycom. I could be wrong, but they did the ground work and pitched it to the powers that be, who agreed. Televising it in Lafayette was an afterthought, on the coattails of the McNeese alums who pitched it.

The only slap in the face here is to Buford Jordan who helped lay the ground work, did promos and lent his name to getting this done.

Typical USL response. No gumption to actually come up with ideas and do the scut work necessary to be successful, simply show up late, _____ and whine loud enough and throw a fit until somebody throws you a bone...

No wonder every other fan base in the state, aside from Southern, laughs at the vainglorious overreach inherent to the "University of Louisiana" movement.

You guys have tried everything else, and I do mean EVERYTHING else, why don't you try laying a proper foundation, doing the actual work necessary to excel and then letting the chips fall where they may, instead of trying to shortcut and name change your way to relevance?

So you are saying we are piggybacking off this thing? I doubt Raycom agreed to do the broadcast unless they could get this into more households which included Lafayette. That was probably a contingency in the deal, not an afterthought. You can ____ and moan about it all day if you'd like but we are unfortunately joined at the hip on this one. I'm gonna venture a guess than none of you keyboard commandos understand the concept of irony...particularly not when you pound your keyboards in whiny rage about a guy pounding his keyboard.

I know you guys catch a lot of grief from the other fanbases in the state, but I don't care what anybody else says.

Because UL had about as much to do with getting this broadcast as McNeese did. You said it yourself that it was Jordan and someone else who went out and pitched to Raycom....Not McNeese. However, I'm sure a contingency in this on Raycom's behalf was saying "We will do this IF we can get it in Lafayette as well". I doubt there's a ton of money into broadcasting this thing in LC only.

The way I understood Farmer (and I could be wrong) is that if we were to purchase our own production equipment we would essentially have fourth-tier rights. In other words, if Raycom wanted the McNeese game, they would have gotten it even if we wanted to produce it ourselves. So it is entirely possible that we could spend millions for equipment and not be able to use it for a single football game, at least the way the ESPN deal is structured now.
