But it helps us recruit better players by getting skulldrug on national TV. Didnt you see the rewards of all the exposure on the field today?
I can tell you this, they could play in my backyard and I aint going. $30 a ticket for GA. No way Im paying that again.
11 felt like 4, 7:45 pm feels like midnight. Bicky had way to many today with first bloody at 7:45am.
So we had no choice in playing in the heat of the day? 11:30am is the better of the 2 choices but what would have happened if we simply said "No, we are playing at 6pm"?
That was the most miserable game experience I can remember. The game was only a small part of the misery since its basically what I expected. For day games, instead of announcing "Welcome to the Swamp", announcer should say "Welcome to the Gumbo Pot".
There was a true safety concern for all those that played, attended the game, and worked the game.
Agreed. Just brutal. Our group ranks the other brutal (recent) games as:
1. The ULM game last year. More than 4 hours sitting in the driving rain....and half that time getting beat by them. Good thing the 2nd half ended like it did.
2. The regional double header: all day in the blazing summer sun, to watch us loose both games.
3. Yesterday's game.
I actually put yesterday as my new #1. Hated everything about it....horrendous playing, ruined TG'ing, plus the heat and sun were just as bad as the baseball games. And not just the game playing was bad, but by far the worst band performance I've seen in a while. And yeah: who in their right mind thought the all black uniforms for them was the right choice? We're on the student side, so think the sun made it even worse. By the end of the game the Boise fans were dropping like flies; they were mostly in the cool off areas, or being hauled off in stretchers. Maybe the Cajun fans would've too....had there been any left.
I would like to hear Hud's comment to this question today, "What are your thoughts on the 11am kickoff?".
I know we didn't have a choice... apparently... but that whole situation sucked. Apart from the game itself... we imprinted another bad experience on our fans, for a fan base we used to pretend we'd like to grow.
Even though those Boise guys sitting next to us were good guys... if we ever wanted Boise State to sign up with a home and home again... that early hot mess trashed that deal.
Don't we have a choice? Can someone point out that we agreed to play a game regardless of anything to honor a SBC contractual obligation to provide a team. Seriously Ga Southern could have played this game instead of us.
I am fairly confident we not only agreed to the game and time, but did it so that WE COULD be on a minor network. I am really glad it was not seen in NOLA except on ESPN 3. The score doesn't have near the impact that the game actually did.
Don't know what would happen, but highly doubt this school or conference is willing to challenge a contractual agreement in court. More than likely, your game won't be televised and there would probably be a good chance that the rest of your games won't be after you've ____ed off ESPN because they didn't receive their compensation after selling the game rights to the American Sports network. Do you really want to go down that road and have you brand tarnished? You really think the SBC or UL has that type of bargaining power?
