Have to agree with Basin. Less Miles is catching hell for his hard headedness and yet Hud is even more stubborn.. Hard to see other fun belt teams enjoying success against good teams and we consistently lay an egg.
Whoever is in charge of music is still clueless on when to play & not play music. Was it the first series that Jennings had to turn around and wave his arms to shut that crap off?
When music starts and stops is the least of our problems don't you think? That was a really bad team out on the field yesterday and at times it looked like they didn't want to be there. Better tighten up real quick because if you think it's bad now, wait until next week if we are 0-2 after Ryan Street High School comes to town.
We have what we have in Hud. I had hoped a cerebral coach would emerge from a fired up country boy weight lifter. It just isn't going to happen. He's a fired up jock that pounds checkers pieces around on a chess board. We'll see if the athletes we have can play sandlot football against McNeese and win. That's what we have in Hud.
We need to stop analyzing the athletes. Some weren't ready for yesterday, no doubt. Some were solid but just couldn't overcome the two obstacles they faced... a very good Boise State... and poor preparation coaching by our staff.
What an embarrassing performance yesterday. We have regressed so much its so hard to watch. We are paying our coaches way too much for this to happen. Every coach except special teams should forfeit one days pay and submit a written apology to the fans for subjecting us to that crap yesterday. All we accomplished was confirming to the TV audience that we are a horrible program in the worst conference.
As much as it sucks to say, we aren't going to hang with a team like Boise with the players we have. We have 1 stud on defense, Otha Peters. To play big time football you need 8 or 9 like him on each side of the ball. While our play calling left much to be desired, we just don't have the players to execute those plays. I hope I'm proven wrong as the year progresses but I'm just not seeing many studs on this team.
I know everybody talks about the money..... But there are only a certain number of people in the world that are coaches, raising the salary doesnt necessarily increase the talent pool..... Now when they use the money to make staffs bigger and bigger, i guess that works to an extent, but it seems like violating the ncaa rules (or at least the sprirt of the rule)
Wrong. We have the players to COMPETE.
Do you really believe App St has enough "studs" on defense to dominate an above average SEC team? Because they don't. The commentators raved the entire game about how well coached, well prepared and sharp game plan that App St had produced.
We talked about this ad nasieum last year. A player can not use his ability of he's constantly thinking about what and where he needs to be. This goes back to preparation. Our last game was what, late November, early December of last year? From that moment, this ____ing staff should have been laser focused on AT VERY LEAST fielding a competent team. A competitive team. Instead, it was a 4 hour clinic on how NOT to show up game 1.
Eli up the middle, bubble screen, swing pass, 5 wide QB sneak. That was the gameplan. That was the ENTIRE freaking gameplan. And btw, why in the hell are we running up tempo? Those kids had no idea what they were supposed to do.
