Dry tailgating ...... All good!
Any reason that people keep referring to Simeon Thomas as an NFL prospect?
I generally liked what I saw from Jennings. He mostly made good decisions - and at the very worst avoided making bad decisions. Coutts is awesome. McGuire is healthy and Jordan Wright had a couple good carries, and I'm anxious to see Raymond Calais get some carries against more peer competition.
The rest...I don't know what to say. Boise State was great, there's no taking that away from them. They were in superior shape and they executed on a MUCH higher level. I just don't know how much of our failures were because they're so good or because we're just that bad. I want to think we'll round into shape as we get into our schedule. But we've got to fix some fundamental things. We tackled VERY poorly today. Our offensive line looked every bit the mess it was last year. We've got to be able to operate our offense without getting into 3rd and 30 situations because of our pre-snap penalty mistakes. There was no excuse for all those false start penalties on US, in OUR stadium, which happened to be pretty empty for a season opener.
And my last thought: I don't care if we ever play on TV again, and neither should our coaches. Starting at 11:00 AM helped nobody, and if I'm given the choice between playing better games at 6 only available on our local network or playing at 11 on national TV and THAT is the product we're putting out there, it's stupid to even entertain the idea of playing at 11.
