    ...and why?

Don't forget, the TAMU victory was followed with a lackluster season. It would have been great if we had followed up with a great season, and TAMU had bounced back to have a good season. Neither happened, so at this point equal.

I voted that the Boise win would be bigger. Back then college football didn't get the exposure it does now, add to that social media! It could really help to push us to the next level, but like CajunEXPRESS said, it cannot stop there we would have to finish the season strong.

For me, the Boise win would be bigger because I was not at UL as a student at that time. I did not get to UL until August 1997.

Now, all of my friends, media, public said the Cajuns victory over Texas A&M was the greatest victory in the history of Cajuns football. The first NOLA bowl was my favorite victory.

BSU win would only be bigger if we parlayed that into a nationally recognized season by being in a spotlight bowl game.

If we beat Boise Saturday, I'd venture to say Boise will struggle to have a winning record and this won't look all that impressive at seasons end. But all that matters is how it appears on the game day much like ULM win over Ark.

Beating a P5 team will always trump two G5's, regardless of stature beating each other.

Texas A&M was hugely overrated going into that season. I remember the game and season well, because at that time.... I wanted to be an Aggie.

Yes, as a sophomore in high school, I was sitting in the lower level of Cajun Field with an A&M shirt on, hoping one day to attend the school and either be a Cadet or on the track team.

I don't think I've admitted all that to a group of Cajuns fans before. Please don't egg my house or excommunicate me.

Anyway.... IF something like that were to happen, and both us and Boise go on to have good seasons by each of our programs' standards, it would be possibly the greatest win for our football program's history.

There is something to be said about the name recognition.

But at this point, Boise has now become just as big of a name in football as A&M has ever been since John David Crow was playing.

Compare their budgets, compare their attendance numbers, compare their uniform contracts, compare their recruiting classes, compare the hits you get on a google search. And that's not even taking into account history and tradition. Even with a heavy recency bias that statement is still bunk.

If UL wins, it will only further the loud fringe narrative that Boise is a pretender program.

Boise is one of the top 15 college football programs since 2000.
