Gant averaged 5.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 15.6 minutes per game last season, shot 45.1 percent from the floor and made 72.2 percent of his free throws. He had a career-high 16 points at Vanderbilt and scored 11 against Mississippi State, Omaha and Northern Illinois. As a freshman (4.9 ppg, 2.2 rpg, .516 FG in 14.1 mpg) he had 13 points against Xavier, 11 at Arkansas and 10 vs. Texas A&M. Coming out of high school he had a host of offers from big-name programs (Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Syracuse, Tennessee, etc.) as a top-50 Class of 2014 recruit, so this is a huge addition for the Cajuns.

Looks like we are loaded to make a run in 17-18.

We will have a lot of seniors and will add three high major transfers.

Although I hate to see guys transfer out of here didn't they all transfer to lesser programs?

Now that does point to inadequate recruiting but these transfers in are coming from larger programs so I see that as an improvement.

And it's a long time before they step on that court for us. These guys coming in are leaving for a lesser program too. Not all of them left for lesser programs and sometimes depending on the eligibility you have left you kinda don't have a choice if you want to play.

Last 2 transfers were top 200 national 4**** recruits.

Each of the three transfers who left this year are going to lesser programs. In fact, I don't believe any of them are going to D1 programs. I see that as a recruiting issue as much as anything else. It was doubtful Tyrone Wooten would be a major contributor once it was realized he was only a part time starter for his JUCO team in his sophomore year. Overall, I see this situation as part of the national trend of an increasing transfer rate. Much of the success of Jessie Evans was a result of transfers contributing. We all hope a return to this approach results in improved play.
